My plan towards success!

February 2nd, 2014

Good day everyone,
I'm from Malaysia and my education background majors in accounting & finance. But due to the fact that I'm suffering from depression, I could not perform efficiently in any accounting firms. I got referred to this forum by an ex-schoolmate of mine and found out that there are many things that I need to learn because I am not used to all these kinds of IT related stuff.

I've been reading the Step by Step Tutorial by (STM caurmen) and STM Getting Started Guide. Trying to avoid signing up with any Affiliate Marketing Program at the moment because I do not have the confidence to start right now.

So far I have already read through Step Tutorial by (STM caurmen) and made a list of IT stuff that I should understand. Planning to go through the guide again in order to get a better understanding.

February 5th, 2014

Just found out that if I am able to get through this Affiliate Marketing, I could set up a Limited Liability Company with one of my family members and could still become a CA cum Affiliate Marketeer. This is like killing two birds with 1 stone. Extremely motivated right now.

Still compiling a bunch of technical & confusing questions to be asked. Hoping to get it done in another 3 days. Planning to start my 1st campaign latest by March.

February 22nd, 2014

I've been reading and learning about landing pages and guides for the past 2 weeks. Realized that affiliate marketing is not really that simple. Trying to delay my 1st campaign until I feel confident of spending money for the data in the first few months. Maybe I could start earning bucks during these few months. Maybe...

Questions that I asked:

1. I only understand that Filezilla that this application is File Transfer Protocol but what is the difference between the client file and server file? Which one should I download if I am an affiliate marketeer?
You need the client program - you'll use it to transfer landing pages and other files to your servers. (by STM caurmen)

2. I did some research regarding File Transfer Protocol (FTP)but I do not quite understand what it means. What exactly is the purpose of File Transfer Protocol?
You will use ftp to transfer files to your vps or other servers. Once you have created a landing page, for example, you use ftp to put it on your web server. (by STM caurmen)

3. Do I have to learn Javascript to apply into HTML-Kit if I know how to use Photoshop/ Adobe Muse?
No, you won't need to know JavaScript. Basic HTML is enough to get started. (by STM caurmen)

4. Thank you for answering my questions. I have another question if you don't mind. Do I need HTML-kit if I purchase Adobe Muse?
Nope, Adobe Muse and any text editor will do just fine! (by STM caurmen)

5. Is it possible to have 2 click to action buttons on one landing page? If yes, what adjustments should be made when using CPVLab?
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...602#post139602

6. I've got a question regarding landing pages which I got messed up in my mind. From what I researched, there are 2 types of landing pages namely reference landing page & transactional landing page.

The first thing I'm planning to do is to self-host or find a host (Beyond Hosting) for my website (WordPress.org) as my reference landing page which contain relevant information to the product which I'm trying to sell. In addition, this website would have other affiliate programs such as Amazon Affiliates and Adsense.

The next thing that I would do is to create a transactional landing page using WordPress which would appear as a pop-up in my reference landing page which would lead to conversion.

So my questions are:
1. Am I doing/ thinking this right?
2. If I were to advertise in such way, will my Facebook account be banned?
3. Should I find a good host or self host my landing page?

I'm not sure what you're doing about the depression, but you should seek professional help if you haven't yet from a doctor.

Affiliate marketing is not easy, and failed campaigns can actually make your feelings worse.

The industry's always going to be around.

Good luck

Mate, this is NOT the industry you should be in if you are facing issues with depression. I cannot be clearer on this, if you are facing depression, this WILL get worse, as you WILL lose money on most of your early campaigns, and there is a high likelihood that you will continue to do do. That is just how the numbers play out. Just like in the music industry, .1% of the players do extremely well, but most do not.

I know some classmates who have suffered from depression. They can lead fulfilling lives, but they MUST make sure they keep themselves out of the wrong situations. This is one of those situations.

Please, for your sake, do not get involved in this, until you are able to get help and put this behind you.

I would try to deal w/ the depression on some level before jumping into affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing can be quite the emotional rollercoaster even if you're going into it with a solid mental state, I would be very careful with this. It has huge emotional swings + you most likely will spend a lot of your time alone on the computer, both of which can significantly exacerbate your depression.

I really do not like calling people out, but this is the most irresponsible, most immature, and quite frankly, stupidest comment I have seen on this board.

I've consulted a doctor a few years ago and on medication at the moment. My condition is getting better and better. In fact, I think that I have actually recovered. The thing about me is that I tend to be quiet around big crowds. I'm those introvert kind of guy. I don't really enjoy to deal with clients. And when I'm at home I could work for long hours if I know what I'm doing. Yes, I know it is not an easy thing to succeed in affiliate marketing. But when I work alone, I tend to be much more efficient and effective. So don't worry guys. I won't kill myself if I lose all my money. When I've decided to take this step, I won't look back and keep on going. Should I really fail, I would just have to find a simple job which would not stress me out.

It sounds like you need something to captivate and challenge you then. As long as you consciously accept the fact that starting out is hard (as is the case when you're starting anything) and embrace it you should have the right foundation in place.

Too often I see people try and fight against the difficulties and intellectual challenges surrounding AM only to make the process harder. Also with all the hype surrounding the space, a lot of people come into it expecting a very different experience to what it actually delivers.

Clarity and setting the right initial expectations are key, not running away when confronted by a challenge.

It's such a personal journey. Some never make it, some hit home runs relatively quickly (but that's rare). Your mental fitness has a broader impact on your life, not just your journey into AM/Business. Sometimes all you need is something to do.

Be conscious, set the right expectations, embrace failure and focus on learning.

Actually I did go through the toughest parts of my life before. I had gone through 2 years + without a proper job and without a proper sense of direction. I managed to conquer it by starting to resume my college studies. Actually my education background is ACCA, which is not easy to pass. If I can pass this professional course I don't think affiliate marketing will stop me from moving forward into the future.

All the world to you man. I wish you nothing but success. Be prepared to lose money at the starting. Work your butt off. Approach it just like "ACCA"( I don't know what it means)" however you passed it, use the same skills to do AM. If you try to do ACCA, ABBA, ADDA, AEEA etc you would never make it. Same applies to AM. Stick with one thing until you master it.

If you want to fast track it, do a follow along and keep with it. A lot of pros here to help you out.
