VPS Hosting Location

Hi All,

I'm new to the forums so take it easy on me

I've got some quick questions for you:

The location of a VPS is obviously going to add some latency to the site load speed. If i'm thinking about doing international campaigns and i'm using a US host how important is this? Does anyone use CDN or is it too costly?

I'm about to make a purchase to get my own VPS but i'm unsure as to where to geographically place it.

Thanks in advance.

VPS location is definitely important. If you have the sysadmin knowledge, it's often a good idea to get a VPS close to where you're intending to run - otherwise, if you're running campaigns a long way away from your server, a CDN is definitely a good idea.

Make sure you choose a fast CDN, though - they're most definitely not all created equal! MaxCDN or Beyond's CDN are both pretty well-regarded.

If you are running mobile campaigns, having your tracker/landers/etc close to the geo you are targeting can mean a huge difference in ROI.
