Funny method for mobile app installs - pretty sure its not allowed

Hey guys,

I just tried to download a talking alarm clock app from 4shared and it presented me with an App wall /offer wall ( a wall of app install offers and some random mobile offers like free gift card etc). The guy had created his own app and was tricking the 4shared downloaders into running an offer wall instead of the app they want. Then when you try to exit, it says "Install something from the list so you will get your file". I can't imagine this will produce good quality installs since most people who go to 4shared will never buy an app or pay for the upsell once they downloaded the free app.

there's so many potential ways to scam aff networks in mobile, it's the wild west and all new. you should report that aff.

and you're taking some risk getting your APKs (i presume you're android) from 4shared. here's a post i wrote about how to insert a keylogger into Swiftkey:

Yeah, I was always aware of the risk of installing unsigned APKs. This situation kind of made me realize I was taking an unnecessary risk to save a buck or two. I ended up buying it in the end.

Cool blog post btw.

No need to report aff, quality won't check out and this will end naturally.

all APKs have to be signed to be installed on Android. anyone can do the signing. it's just risky installing apps from 4shared imo.

cheers, that blog post took me ages to write.
