Follow Along Insanity Workout (45)

Follow Along Insanity Workout

with it being January - you have lots of people trying to burn off fat.

So I decided on an Offer from MaxBounty - the Insanity Workout (US).

$12 CPA

I got the banner and code from maxbounty.

loaded up and made a landing page. I know this style of lander works as I sell tons (SEO) with this format.

http://all-pro-workouts.com/insanity-workout-reviews/

went to 7search and got keywords for Insanity, fat loss, Shaun T.

I know this niche so added keywords for P90X. All words were below 0.10. Most at 0.05

Going to Bing to set up campaign over there also.

Ad is set with traffic and getting impressions already.

let me know any thoughts or ideas to make this landing page or campaign better.

thanks in advance.

I think your layout is a little messed up.

http://screencast.com/t/692s5dUloaIW

^ that all shows in the footer, I am guessing you want it somewhere else

anyways, good luck

Thanks... looked at code and had one extra <div> in middle - which threw the right side bar into footer. Thanks for catching that.

Let me know any comment or ideas I can do to improve -- I am all ears. thanks in advance.

Man, I thought I would see some pics of you doing the workout. Clearly disappointed. ;(

01-29-2014 02:07 PM #6 kamaleon (Member)

How are you tracking all this? I just see links directly to maxbounty...

01-29-2014 03:54 PM #7 caurmen (Administrator)

Interesting - your SEO background should give you a strong start in this, although be aware that organic and paid traffic will behave differently.

Looking forward to hearing how your initial data comes out!

At end of day I count clicks through on 7 search to get my spend.

Then I look at Maxbounty to see how many clicked offer / sales (none yet).

Then I can figure my EPC and ROI.

I need a good tracking system but not sure what to use? Cpv lab or prosper.

I have buddy that just says use tracking in goigle Adwords?

Suggestions?

Yeah; I cru$h it monthly with SEO - very stable 2.5 plus years

But I am newbie to paid traffic - so learning.

I don't know how SEO vs paid behave differently. Do you know of something I can read to get up to speed?
I am goigle searching subject now.

Given you're running search ads, that'll probably minimise the difference: it's mostly about the intent of the user who has clicked on your ad. Qualified traffic from a long-tail search query behaves very differently to a click from a porn site on a random ad, for example.

Any update on this? This is different than the majority of the other follow alongs so I was interested to see where it went!

Learn how to use tracking software plenty of tutorials on this forum you will not be successful until you learn to use the tools of the trade.
Tracking campaign spend by the clicks charged on 7search-> to what maxbounty shows is a very bad idea.

None the less good luck and I hope you start crushing it soon.

Well the main differences are that you are actively trying to

1) manage massive campaigns on the paid side to
2) target maximum purchase intent at the lowest price and you are optimising in real time.

(For example, at any given time, we are managing about 3-4 million keywords / keyword combinations for our activities.)

You need to do this because PPC is expensive, brutally competitive, and you can lose a lot of money if you do not know what you are doing. The upside is that if you can figure it out, it is a much more controllable and scalable traffic source than SEO.

thanks for your interest blahbl83

switched gears on traffic source from 7search to Google Adwords. Set up Prosper202 tracking on HostWind as a backup to tracking analytics on Google.

have a fresh set of keywords and same campaign re-started.

I am also adding more fresh text copy to landing page for SEO purposes and looking at Jetpack analytics for inbound keywords.

the goal is to hit if from PPC traffic and SEO.

We are back live with campaign
Fresh keywords
Prosper202 tracking on Hostwinds
set up redirect page
Cloaking
Made small tweaks to landing page

Goal tomorrow is to create another page and do A/B split testing

Thanks for everyone's suggestions and interest so far.

02-13-2014 04:20 PM #20 bradmcleod (Member)

with new campaign restarted on google adwords (not on 7search) and Prosper202 tracking - after 24 hours.

20 clicks
2,809 impressions
0.71% CTR
$0.35 CPC
3.4 average position
$6.93 spend
$0 sales
-100% ROI

the CPA is $12

so I was going to run it up to $30 plus in search of that first sale.
I have a guy helping me tweak campaign and adjust bids and drop out keywords not performing.

A good thing is that I am picking up the SEO keywords that people are clicking on to get to site through PPC -
I can then use those words in the copy to help pick up future SEO traffic.

02-14-2014 01:13 PM #21 caurmen (Administrator)

I'd run to at least 4x payout - so $48. That should give you a good indication if it's going to convert.

$6.93 spend
$0 sales
-100% ROI
Keep an eye on the keywords people are clicking by looking in the 'Matched Search Queries' link in Google Analytics. Any search terms that are irrelevant should be added to your negative keywords list. This reduces unnecessary clicks, saving you money and increasing your ctr (crucial for qs in adwords) as you won't receive impressions for the negative keywords.

Start separating out decent keywords (possible converters) into their own ad groups and write separate ads for them. This helps get your ctr up and will reduce your click costs over time.

Hope that helps.

made 1st Sale this afternoon! $12 CPA woohoo

44 clicks
7,534 imp
0.60% CTR
$0.31 CPC
$13.85 spend
3.4 position
$12 sales
-100% ROI

*note - I updated the website to have a better call to action above the fold.
we are collecting data and finding out what works.

.
Yes; Wozz - our goal is to bring CTR up to 1% then 2% and above.

I am working on website lander tonite to reduce clutter - take out top tabs and right side bar.

OK: thanks... I had budget set at much lower to hit our first conversion... but looks like we are getting a little traction so keep trying to optimize lander and text.

Isnt your CPA technically $13.64? Those are some great CPCs for that niche. What positions are you seeing?

I guess so.. I was referring to what MaxBounty paid me on the CPA. I am ppc n00b so I probably don't have my terms straight.

3.4 position now (I am posting that in above post now). I don't understand position so need to learn.

02-17-2014 12:58 AM #26 bradmcleod (Member)

went the rest of the weekend with no sales.. but here is update

increased daily spend to $30.
50 clicks
8,018 impressions
0.62 CTR
0.32 CPC
3.4 average position
$15.85 spend
$12.00 sale
-3.85 loss
-100% ROI

Goals: Add new lander and tweak current landing page and have A/B testing. Increase bids to increase average position?

.....any recommendations on what to work on this week?

02-17-2014 06:19 AM #27 nefig (Member)

I would say, increase your daily budgets and focus on mid- to long tail keywords, 1 per adgroup. Explore ad extensions and start testing them. Your goal is CTR - and CVR of course

- use dayparting data from your SEO efforts
- drop retargeting pixel on your lander, start collecting audience, you will need it later
- create one campaign with proven best keywords and ads, 1 keyword per adgroup; Target positions 1-3 to achieve and maintain great CTR. Feed it with best ads from your "testing" campaign so this "best" campaign always run on best keywords, best ads and has best CTR possible to grow and maintain great quality score.
- never, NEVER just change your ad text. Pause old ad if you want to test new one: changing ad kills its ad rank and history. IF new one doesn't work, you can always unpause your old one.
- Keep testing new ads often, always keep running at least 2 ads per adgroup.
- use peel & stick method by P. Marshall to organize your testing and keyword grouping

WIth Adwords its always best to start with really high bids to earn high CTR = highest quality score, then gradually drop the cpc to acceptable levels, while keeping your position high.

02-18-2014 03:31 AM #28 bradmcleod (Member)

Just got our 3rd sale..so $36 rev to date

189 Clicks
$65.02 Cost
0.57% CTR
$0.34 Avg CPC
-100% ROI

Lowered bid prices and we had more clicks today
Goal is to tweak lander Tuesday
I think we would be breaking even except for day 2 keyword buds were a little high and lander not in best shape
Tuesday will be good - and I take tips above from "nefig" and put to use

02-18-2014 05:11 PM #29 solaris (Member)

Your ad position is relatively high but ctr is still low. Are you able to add the keywords you are targeting in the ads to increase ctr?

Ok; i will work on that in next 24 hours.

02-19-2014 12:45 AM #31 bradmcleod (Member)

update - got 4th sale today.
230 clicks
$74.48 cost
0.56% CTR
0.32 Av. CPC
$48 revenue
-100 % ROI

*note - we are closing the gap on spend vs revenue as we got 4th sale with less quicks (it took 41 clicks - $13.12 to get 4th sale) - so with $12 CPA we are closing the gap on breaking even.

I updated the lander today by adding a fresh graphic and adding lots of SEO text.

We are getting a ton of good SEO keywords out of this and building out the page with SEO loaded words now.

02-20-2014 03:28 AM #32 bradmcleod (Member)

update - got 5th sale today wednesday
55 clicks today
0.58% CTR
$0.22 CPC
$12.10 spend today
$12 CPA today
$0.10 loss
- 100% ROI

we are about to turn the corner on profitability per day.
we have made numerous tweaks to upgrade the lander
added re-marketing

Goal for thursday is to get 2 sales or at least one $12 CPA in under $12 ad spend.

*Note yesterday it took $13.10 ad spend to get a $12 CPA for 4th sale.. so we are closing gap.

We are approaching $100 ad spend and will make adjustments then with notes from all above.

BOOYA! First day of profit. Got a sale at 4 am and another just now = $24 in revenue today with $5.78 in spend.

I know this is only a 12 hour period but psyched to see any nudge into profit zone for the day. We hit our goal of 2 sales today with under $12 spend.

I will post up end of the day numbers at 11:45 tonite.

Nice going i miss my PPC days
Redirect the offer to inner page like "offer.php" so its less affiliate based website.

ok; ending up the day... worked my ass off all day on SEO and PPC offers.

I FUCKED UP THE STATS as was looking at 2 PPC campaigns - SO I am editing...Much better stats when you don't count 2 campaigns towards 1 campaigns sales

71 clicks today
$0.24 average CPC
$17.04 spend
$24.00 rev
+29% ROI -- first day of PROFIT!

we did hit a new mark with 2 sales today so that was a new high.
we are setting up Bing ads now - had to get approval as they were denied at first.
the clicks are cheaper at Bing - so if lander is optimized we hope for less spend and good revenue.
re-marketing of ads is continuing.

Goal on friday to fix banner ad like "godspeed" mentioned - if i can figure that out.

The banner/button was for your landing page Your button have black edges, i though it would be better to blend in

About redirect, create offer.php page, with php redirect:

We made 1 sale each day over weekend and Monday
Bing ads up and approved with cheaper clicks - re-marketing still on going
Goal Tuesday is make another landing page to split test
Will crunch numbers and post stats Tuesday

Thanks for everyone's support!

Good stuff, well done and great work ethic!

02-27-2014 07:56 PM #41 bradmcleod (Member)

ok; we have been tracking daily (every few hours I check).. sorry for not posting sooner but we have been working hourly on this

for today - Thursday
CTR 0.69%
clicks 6 (my account got shut off for lack of funds as my wife drained out a big chunk of funds)
CPC $0.18
$1.08 spend
$24.00 revenue
+100% return today

We have made some tweaks to the website. If I can get 2 sales a day at $24 then we we will be profitable daily as we are getting CPC lowered

I have my Odesk helping me with some new landers and working on adding those to do split test.

03-01-2014 12:03 AM #42 bradmcleod (Member)

Ha; just when we get profitable.......

Maxbounty asked me to pause campaign today as we were using branded keywords "insanity workout" and "beach body"

We are looking at other keywords to use but that with affect CTR - anybody else run into similar situation?

03-03-2014 01:22 AM #43 bradmcleod (Member)

our main ads are paused as we rewrite copy to avoid branded keywords.

we are doing re-targeting with display ads and just picked up a sale with 0.30 click and $12 CPA

click 1
CPC $0.30
rev $12
ROI 100% for the day

03-05-2014 04:30 PM #44 bradmcleod (Member)

we are back with a new text ad without the words "insanity" or "beach body" and not bidding on those words either.

running 7search traffic last night. Strange thing is that I only got 1 click but 2 sales?

click 1
CPC $0.05
cost $0.05
Rev $24
ROI 100%

need to figure this out as not sure how I got 1 click but 2 sales unless one of the clicks came from an earlier cookie.
either way -- profitable this AM.

03-05-2014 07:58 PM #45 zeno (Administrator)

Nice work! I should point out that your ROI calculation is off - ROI% = (revenue - spend)/(spend)*100 - so in your case (24 - 0.05)/(0.05)*100 = 47,900%. Yeah that's unlikely to hold steady but a good start hah!
