BANGKOK Meetup After Party :)

As we continue finalizing the details for the Bangkok meetup we've figured out what to do AFTER the meetup.. We're going to call it the STM + F5 Media Island Party.

In simple terms; lets all head to a Thai island together!
Soaking in some rays, playing some frisbee, swimming, renting boats, fishing, eating, and some sort of moon partying with a bunch of other affiliates

What we're trying to figure out is.. which ISLAND? Need your Thailand experts helps, which is a good island where a bunch of us can all stay nearby, with a lot to do, big open beaches and lots of mango slushies?

Koh Samui

That's the only island I've been too, stayed at an amazing relaxing resort. So i'm a little biased towards it

Vote for Samui as well

Koh Phangnan?

Tao or Samui would be booms, also one night on the notorious Phangnan lol

Koh Samui would be the first choice for sure! It's not easy to get there though...

Phuket can be the second choice

IIRC, Samui has an airport

EDIT: yep. Samui International Airport

Wow do I not miss taking the bus from Bangkok down to Koh Tao

Krabi is not an island, but definitely has some SICK beaches!

How long after the meetup are the festivities planned for? I'm trying to make it over to Japan in time for the Cherry Blossoms

damn that is beautiful

there are some seriously good spots around Thailand. I did a short motorbike road trip around north-west Thailand.

i'll admit I am a bit biased towards Phangan, but that's mainly because I spent most of my time there. there's a lot more to it than just the Full Moon Party. and some really good parties

I had a good time on Koh Chang also. probably one of the only islands left that is still cheap. not a big crowd there but it is quite nice.

I'm going to Krabi a few weeks before the meet up. It looks like I should book my accommodation with Rayavadee!

Yes please.

Koh Phangan ftw, I liked it better than koh Samui.

I'm in Thailand right now, just arrived on Ton Sai Beach on Krabi about 3 hours ago. The beaches here are out of this world beautiful. Currently tethering internet from my phone at a hippie bar so I can set up campaigns. I think Koh Phi Phi might be a winner. I went to Koh Phangnan back in 2010 and it was a bit overrun (I'm specifically referring to Had Rinn). I'd image it's only gone downhill since. I've never been to Koh Tao but I hear it's sick.

Was in Koh phi phi on new years. That place if something is destroyed by tourists unfornately. There are some islands you can go with a boat tour to during the day though which are nice the rest of the island is mostly drunk teenagers.

Figures. These islands tend to have many...interesting people. I spent the past week in Krabi and got food poisoning twice. After spending the entire night in crippling pain I got furious, and booked a last minute flight back to Bangkok. I'm in Bangkok now, so if anybody wants any intel on something let me know and I can look into it.

02-03-2014 03:18 PM #19 angry old lady (Member)

Yeah, generally any place with erm... "interesting" tourists you get unwelcoming locals

Which is fair. The amount of undeserved abuse ive seen them get from the tourists is enough to make anyone crabby.

Especially with thailand, you tend to see a lot of the "im not in my country, I can do whatever I want" mentality

So what's the final details for this?

Samui is cool but Patong in Phuket is definitely the better party place. Any one is fine by me, there is of course also the option to go full debauchery in Pattaya, which also has some nice islands for a day trip, because the beach there is crap.

Hey sorry for the delay guys, we are seriously just finishing touches on this one, we got a little held up with the main event. We've chosen Koh Samui, it's a for real paradise island experience, for those of whom haven't yet gotten to enjoy, but also its about a 60 minute flight from bangkok straight to the island which we think is pretty easy.

We've got it nailed down to 2 locations, but just finding a common hotel/hotel area we can let people know.

Do you know until what dates this will take place? We are thinking of going from the 8th until the 19th or so to BKK but maybe if we go straight from the event to the island we can still be there.

Thanks

Damn I booked my flights before I realised this after party would take place... shucks.

02-06-2014 12:53 AM #26 maynzie (Moderator)

^ Any chance you can change ya flights, have you called the airline?

I think the dates will be 14-17th meetup 18-21st koh samui, but we are just packaging the whole together sorry for the wait guys Thai people don't move as fast with communication as the Western world!

I've got stuff organised afterwards...

@cmdeal Just managed to book a few nights at http://www.rayavadee.com/ in a few days. My expectations are through the roof after I saw it on this top list http://xposethereal.com/uncategorize...e-you-die.html

Been to rayavadee before. Its really awesome. Their private beach is one of the nicest ive seen. Also off the path between the town and the beach there is a hike up the mountain that goes down into this completely unreal lagoon. Highly recommend doijg it but the hike is not very easy. Gets kind of indiana jones style at times.

03-04-2014 03:57 AM #30 Mr Green (Administrator)

@constantin fuck yeah! Will do it for sure!

Wow, nice list ... so many places still to see!

Conrad Maldives (photo above) is just an amazing place ... so many wonderful memories. Never got to stay in the underwater suite, though

As for Rayavadee, it's been almost 10 years since we were last there ... let me know how your stay goes. My wife and I had a hydro pool pavillion, which was like a small 2 story house with a private jacuzzi/pool. Make sure you close the doors to keep the monkeys out

The private beach at Rayavadee is lovely. Phranag beach has a really cool cave restaurant (the one in the photo below).

Railay beach is also great, but because it is public, it can get a slightly crowded since you get more daytrippers visiting. (That said, I believe the only way to access it is still by boat, so you won't get mass hordes of people like in some of Thailand's beaches.) I think if you go early morning or during the sunset when most of the daytripper boats leave, that can be fine.

Think I'm just gonna miss all of the fun, I'm land in Phuket the 16th. If anyone is down to grab a beer hit me up!

Also going to check if I can make it to Bangkok on time.
