PPV Hosting and first steps? (6)

PPV Hosting and first steps?

Does anyone have a recommendation for good, relatively cheap hosting that can stand up to PPV traffic? I've heard good things about BeyondHosting and WireTree VPS. Any other companies I should check out? I'm basically looking for good bang for your buck, and good support since this will be my first time using a VPS (I assume I'm going to need at least VPS if I'm going to do even moderate volume).

Also, as this is my very first PPV campaign, I went ahead and made a chronological list of everything I *think* I need to do before launching. Do you think I've left anything out?

0. Find offer and traffic source - CHECK (I have the offer, and I'm going to use my TV account)
1. Install CPV Lab.
2. Research demo / offer and choose targets.
3. Build 3-5 landers to test (probably using tijn's "LPs on crack" technique / script).
4. Launch, collect data, optimize, etc.

I guess the only thing I'm wondering about at this point is whether I should try the multiple targets technique or choose just one target and build a lander that mimics it. I'm leaning toward the multiple target approach since I don't need to cloak that way and can get a broader set of data and can more easily optimize that way (at least I think I'll be able to), but I'd be interested to hear from someone with experience if they think the 1-target approach is better for beginners.

Thanks STMers!

Yeah BeyondHosting has also a good deal with cpvlab, check it out! Also if you already own cpvlab they guys over there will get it installed for you as well. Personally I run a VPS with StormOnDemand and it works aboslutely fantastic. Everything went smooth and I run cpvlab as well as my landers on this one machine.

Depending on the offer you select, I wouldn't start with that many landers. Go with 2, the ugly and beautiful ones from tijin (http://imrat.com/2010/08/ppv-landing-pages-p1/) and test which performs better. Once you got some data, go on from there and create new landers based on your winner.

If you go the broad road, don't test to many targets, stick with few and watch your target spend closely (on TV -> Reports -> Monthly Target Reports). I would go with an offer paying between $5-$8 and spend max. double-triple amount of the payout per target. With an offer payout like this you don't "lose" to much money as you don't go with hundreds of targets!

The 1-target method can work quite well. Do some research in your demo, grab the target and put it into TV. Look if there is any volume, if not ditch it and get another one until you get a nice green bar. Install the gamevance and FREEze Frog toolbar and spy what other people are doing.

Good luck.

I second BeyongHosting. I am on their VPS starter package and it handles all my clicks without a delay. Besides, I performed few time tests on http://loadimpact.com (not LeadImpact!) and my site hosted there loaded all around 700ms!

Highly recommended Hosting! Look for Tyler for a better price. He's around this forum.

BeyondHostng is awesome, I got a couple VPS accounts with them and support is next to nothing.

I couldnt figure out how to install an SSL certificate and had errors after trying to do it myself, but Tyler and the gang figured it out and had it up and running in no time.
