I ordered a server from KnownHost and they asked me to register and point these domains to the following nameservers and corresponding IP addresses, which I did. I'm still very new to this process and all I have is a domain from namecheap.com and now, KnownHost just started getting super technical on me. This is what they sent me:
"After further review, this doesn't seem like the most sensible way to perform an account migration. We offer these full of charge and will only need a few e. Please see below for things to get started here:
We can attempt to perform account migrations as long as:
- The highest possible level of access is provided to *BOTH* systems
- The control panel matches
- The account backup functionality is available on the source server
Please provide the following details for both servers and we will be happy to get the migration process started for you.
-----
IP Address:
Username: (root if at all possible)
Password:
SSH Port: (If your old host allowed access)
List of account usernames to be transferred:
I have no idea what any of that meant. Why are they talking about migration all of a sudden?? Why are they using the word "both" for systems and servers?? I thought I only had one server and that's KnownHost?? I'm a complete newb at this
They are asking for admin access to your servers so they can migrated content from the old one to the new one. If you are not interested in moving things over, then you can simply decline the offer and set things up from scratch on the new server.
Are you switching to KnownHost from a different hosting company? If so, you need to download all your website files from your old server and then re-upload them to the new Knownhost server. And if you are using Wordpress on your old site, you need to backup the database and bring it with you to your new KnownHost server
Figured it out. Thanks guys
