Looking To Learn More About AM To Apply To My Own Website

Hi,

I run my own website that I launched last year, and I've been doing good and growing internationally. I recently opened a couple "advertiser" affiliate network accounts, and I've been getting some leads but nothing crazy yet. However, I just started with them so I guess my offer hasn't been pushed out to many affiliates yet.

I came across this paid forum site and find its very interesting. It's cool to be able to see what affiliates are doing on the other end, but I think this is a great opportunity to learn some of skills that are discussed here and try to apply them myself for my website.

I feel like I have a good website to promote, but what I'm learning on here so far is finding the right traffic sources to target, and using the right creative and landing pages to get the best conversions. I went over all the posts in "GETTING STARTED IN 2013 - a Step By Step Guide", and even though the POF example is not directly related to the services my website offers; I can see how being creative and finding the right "angle" may be the right approach to see if I can get good leads through POF...I guess its worth a try.

I never heard of Prosper 202 or CPV Lab before, but these seem like great applications that I should get familiar with to maximize conversions. I know these applications are used more for AM to earn money on different offers, but do you feel as a website owner looking to grow I will get good use out of these applications? I guess I would probably use them more to see which creative and landing pages work the best; and which methods bring in the best leads.

Thank you!

Hey welcome to STM.

You'll find the best info about affiliate/internet marketing right here.

What kind of website do you own? Product sales?

Yes, I'm definitely glad I stumbled upon this site; just from reading some of the posts it seems like this is the right place to be.

No, it's not an ecommerce shopping cart type site; it's more of a service we provide. We are based in the USA, but 99% of our customers are international. This is why I was liking the idea of testing PoF because it looks like they have good demographics in international countries which is good for me.

Heh, interesting thread to read as I'm preparing a bunch of paid traffic campaigns for my own product!

Yep, 99% of what we do as affiliates is applicable to your own product too. In many ways, I think of affiliate marketing as a fantastic training ground for marketing products of any kind: it boils the skills required down to just the most important elements and makes you practise them again and again!

Prosper and CPVLab are very usable for your own product. You can also use other analytics software like Get Clicky or even Google Analytics if you control the entire funnel - definitely worth testing to see what works best for you.

Ok, thank you... Yes, I use Google Analytics for now and it seems good so far.

I found this article post in the URL link below and I fee like, currently, I'm the merchant that would say "I don't know"...hahaha.

http://marketingland.com/why-every-a...ing-codes-7575

Picture the following scenario:
You’re an Internet marketing consultant and you come across a merchant that is running both an SEO and PPC campaign. You ask them for some information about their campaigns. How many sales come from PPC? How many sales come from SEO? What are your highest converting keywords? What ad copy have you tried and what were the results? Which site layouts or homepage version have proven to be the most successful at increasing sales?

Now imagine that the client says “I don’t know” to all of the above. “All I know is that we make sales.”

They could be wasting money on campaigns that aren’t profitable and/or be missing simple opportunities to make more money. You’d probably think they were nuts (or in severe need of online marketing education).

So it amazes me how many affiliates (especially non PPC based affiliates) ARE that merchant.

Successful affiliates know they must treat affiliate marketing like they would any other business. And businesses need to know which marketing campaigns and which sales channels are working.
I'm glad that I found this forum to not only learn how to do this myself, but also partner up with super-affiliates on my current offers who have more experience and who could probably come up with more creative angles to bring in high conversions.

Thank you!
