Hello everyone,
So I have read my little heart out for the past 2 weeks. Yes a whole 2 weeks.
I have figured out that I want to try mobile as a traffic source. Reason? I feel that why not start with the hardest thing there and get good at that once that is done everything else is cake. Or so I think. Also, because the future and present is mobile I think. Screens will get bigger, clearer and easier to navigate. OS will be more sophisticated. Siri might one day be able to give you recommendations and buy stuff for you. The possibilities are endless.
So after reading some I picked airpush as my traffic source and mobpartner as my affiliate network.
1st question-Were these good choices or not? What are others using?
2nd question - I looked at the offers from mobpartner and most of them had the same campaign restrictions that you can't do your own creatives. Basically they gave you a bunch of preset ads and I guess you just have to promote those? I thought you had to create your own banners, etc. Is this normal for mobile?
3rd question - I also thought that you needed to create landing pages. But it seems based on the offers on mobpartner this is not true? Am I missing something?
4th question - For a newb what is the best mobile tracking software? I heard imobitrax was really good but what else is good? Also what type of server should I get from where?
For now those are my questions. I hope people don't mind if I edit this post in the future and add questions as I launch my first campaign.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hey , first welcome on STM!
To answer your questions :
1 - Airpush is a very good traffic source but mobpartner might not be the best to get started. Yes, they do have tons of offers but also very low street payouts, a lot of restrictions and getting an AM is not as easy as on other networks.
2 - No it's not normal
3 - Yeah it's just mobpartner's restrictions
4 - There are quite some options out there. You could start with STM's mobile tracker which is free.
Thanks bbrock. I contacted mobpartner and they told me that all original creatives go through an approval process so I got to send them for review for them wtf??
Also what would be a goodsite to start with if not mobpartner for a newb? Already got approved for two caompaigns but their reatrictions suck.
Also what should a newb use for hosting? Any recommendations? Thanks.
I went to my account manager and asked for good campaigns and she replied with this.
"Can you please provide what your success metrics are (CPA, CTR, ROI, CPL, etc)? Once i have an understand of what your campaign goals are, i can provide some recommendations on most effective and efficient ad formats."
Now I have yet to run a single campaign so what do I reply?
Thanks.
Custom creatives requiring approvals is semi-standard.
Why not start with F5 as your aff network?
I'd HIGHLY recommend signing up for more than one affiliate network to get started. Split-testing offers over different networks is one of the things that can make you serious additional ROI.
Here's a directory for networks who have reps on STM: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...kype-Directory
There's always some advertisers that make the networks get approval for custom creatives and landers, but it's definitely not the standard. I think mobile might be a little more strict for some reason.. RevivedMedia is like that.. tells people to run only the creatives they offer on the network, direct linking mainly, if using lander you need approval, etc, etc.. Sounds like mobpartner is the same way. This puts me off.. (Especially when you don't get approvals in a timely manner).
Like the others have said, I'd definitely recommend trying other networks.. F5 is a good one, so is A4D, and AboveAllOffers..
Thanks everyone. Can you also help me out replying to my acct rep at mobpartner from my post above? I dknt want to wait too long before replying back.
If in doubt, say you're looking for ROI
That means Return On Investment - it's not the be-all and end-all of campaigns, but it's a good goal particularly when you're new.
I tried joining Mundo Media but it says that the contact name mundoarjun is not a valid member? Should I just try him by Skype?
Hi guys I tried mindmapping my understanding of a mobile offer which is attached in the pdf on this post. Would someone be so kind as to let me know if I am on the right track? Thanks
Any way you could post that as an image?
