Hi,
I'm working on my first mobile campaign. It will be a direct link to an App install. I was wondering what I should be testing first? Obviously banners are important. How many variations of copies and angles should I start with?
I am going to start with Incrowd and it looks like it can track a lot of metrics. Is there still a reason to create multiple campaigns to split test other variables than banners?
ABSOLUTELY, lots of variables with mobile!
For your campaign specifically (app installs):
- Devices, OS, and banners will be the 3 most important factors to your campaign.
In General:
- carriers, devices, os, landing pages, banners, siteids and angle will be the 7 determining factors to mobile campaign success. There's so much you can do with all the variables, X certain websites/apps, add device calling on your landers, X certain devices, os's, carriers, etc...
When testing on other sources I generally create 4 campaigns
1 - Wifi Apps
2 - Wifi Sites
3 - Carrier Apps
4 - Carrier Sites
In Incrowd though you can just create one since if you use their pixel you can see each of these start right from their interface.
What bbrock said "In Incrowd though you can just create one since if you use their pixel you can see each of these start right from their interface."
They take the hassle out of deciding what form of targeting you should focus on. Once you see some momentum from specific forms of targeting then you can break out campaigns.
Thats also what I understood from Incrowd, very cool feature. I noticed that I can only use 1 banner per Incrowd campaign. I just created 20 banners so that would mean 20 campaigns. Perhaps I should stick to 1 banner size for now.
If I want to use their pixel I need to pass the {{{bidhash}}} in the c1 parameter:
...............tracker.php?t202id=121&c1={{{bidhas h}}}&t202kw=
Do I need to configure the C1 also in the STM tracker for this?
For example in this field:

I configured this as the postback from STM tracker to Incrowd: http://win.crwd.io/convert/[[c1]]
Guys, quick question (sorry to highjack a bit):
Will CPVLab be enough to track mobile camps?
Thanks.
Fabian, I think you might benefit by trying something like
@fabian - the big problem with tracking mobile with CPVLab (the current version, at least) is that it doesn't track mobile variables - handset, carrier, etc. That's a big downside.
I'd recommend using another tracker. FYI, the STM Mobile Tracker does the job well, and it's free!
@caurmen thanks! Will take a look!
