Optimal fonts for mobile

Hi,

I am targeting mobile traffic for a campaign. I am designing a lander for mobile (smartphones), and I want to get your input about font recommendations that look good on mobile. Most of the devices coming into from my traffic sources are devices with good resolutions (ppi), so this in an important factor to consider. My main two questions are:

Thanks

That's a pretty good question.

If I don't need anything fancy I use Verdana. It looks good but I never split tested with anything else to be honest.

Otherwise I will embed ttf fonts in my page but that increases the load time quite a bit.

Hi all,

Thanks for the responses. Any comment about the font sizes for high-ppi devices?

Im experimwnting with using vw and vh css measurements in mobile landing page design. Variable height and width, so a font of 1vw would have each character as 1% screen width. I'm still tinkering but looks promising to make fonts look good on various screen sizes

Interesting. And how do you code for the runtime to make those sizing decisions? AFAIK, Font sizes can be set via px, em and rem. or are you doing that via JavaScript?

What kind of variances do you see between your css tests?

theres vw and vh too. have a google
i was using jquery mobile with native droid theme but it was quite bloaty so redesigned it using just html and javascript and tbh surprisingly i didnt see much of an increase in cr. i think any benefit of my lp loading faster was offset by it looking kinda crap on certain screen sizes :] still tweaking, am researching various other mobile frameworks, theres LOADS out there to choose from
