$200,000 profit in 6 months (31)
Living in a small town in central India, I started affiliate marketing in 2009. Soon I got lucky with some direct linked dating, gaming, IQ, horoscope campaigns on facebook & ended up making low $xxx,xxx profit over a period of around 3 years. All my stuff was direct linked, I didnt knew how to setup landing pages, I never used tracking, didn't even know what p202 was, and more similar things. The only thing I was good at was creating direct linked ads that actually worked.
As you can guess, slowly shit started hitting the fan - Fb started blocking network tracking links, started banning accounts and instead of learning to develop my own landing pages/tracking I started hopping between networks in search of 'clean' domains & more direct linked campaigns. People smarter than me adapted to this change & created their own LPs, angles etc & I was slowly out of business. Heck I didn't even know how to use a php file to switch offers just in case an offer was pulled or capped! I did occasionally get lucky with some campaigns here & there but my laziness put me into 'affiliate marketing is dead' mentality. My online monies were spent in buying a new house & into my 'offline' family business. Then for entire 2012 my focus was towards my family business. Came 2013, I was just left with $500 in my bank account that I used for my online activities. I wasn't worried about the money since I was doing good with my offline business, but it was very disturbing for me that I couldn't 'make it work' while my other online friends were still milking the web. I became so depressed that I couldn't eat or sleep properly, couldn't interact with my friends & family as I should. There was something missing in my life - the thrill & excitement of running big successful campaigns, making money out of thin air.
In June 2013 I finally said fuck it - lets do it. A couple of success stories in STM were enough to tell me that there was still huge money being made with dating on FB. I started working 16+ hours a day into creating landing pages & setting up dating campaigns & with the correct targeting I started seeing profits. Even when I slept I used to set alarms at one hour intervals just to keep a check on my stats. I had an old 2k fb account so scaling was not a problem - as soon as a winner was found I used to just blow it up. In just a couple of weeks I had optimized enough campaigns to touch mid to high 4 figures a day. I have even seen 10k days a couple of times. Imagine capping a lot of offers across different networks daily, monitoring like a mofo!
I converted $500 into $200,000 in 6 months flat. All of this was possible with just a shift in my mindset - I just wanted to 'make it work' & THAT mindset enabled me to learn things that I was otherwise not interested in - cloaking, landing pages, prosper202, cpvlab, hosting, angles & what not! Not to mention getting several fb accounts banned in the process & building more up from the ground - its almost a war!
With the recent facebook policy regarding dating ads I know I wont be able to milk it for long but again fuck it - at least I learned some precious things that will help me to diversify into other 'bigger' traffic sources, with mobile being #1 on my list. I know I can make adult profitable fast but I'm not comfortable looking at nudes all day long. I made around 20-25k profit with a few campaigns on PPV too so I might end up expanding on that traffic source as well.
Overall 2013 was an awesome year as I got to see both the worst & best parts of my life, but it wont be missed 
I just want to focus on whats next rather than keep memories of how depressing & struggling 2013 was for me.

Very good. Corporate politics moved me from internal media buys (where i build enough good income) to building DSP (basically ad network) and CPA network. Think 2014 should be the year of breakthrough for me. Since like u i want to realise myself into ability of building big profitable affiliate campaigns.

Its crazy that FB changed policy everyone is telling I killed it with dating..
I wonder if there is any other large scale campaigns that is working right now for tons of members here and nobody is talking about it.. (or at-least almost not discussed compared to the volume and number of members that are milking from it..)

For me seeing a thread with advice with which traffic source you should start, Most chances it will be better start with other one..
In this industry you need to follow what other people are doing, and not what people saying... unless they brag about their results..

There are tons of threads on here about which traffic source to start.
I'd say the opposite, I would find out what other people are doing and go the opposite way. I think Finch said it better, "When people start saying good things about it, that's generally when you need to start shovelling cash in your bag and eyeballing the exit because you ain't gonna be making the same money from it for much longer."
You have really learned a lot of skills in the past year, and many of these will become extremely valuable regardless of what you decide to focus on in 2014.
