Best way to find referrer traffic

I was curious to know what other tools are out there for finding out the top referrers of an offer (to use as targets). I know of Alexa but they dont seem to have much data and I wanted to see if there's any other sources that may be more granular (and free would be good too). Thanks

STM has the FREE URL scraper, what is the advantage / difference with this? Isn't that enough? Appreciate if anyone can provide me with some guidance?

The scraper just gets URLs from the search results for certain keywords.

Referrer information is completely different. It tells you what sites are sending traffic to specific pages. It's very useful information, hence the price tag generally attached.

Example: You find an offer that's converting well and you want to scale it. You are doing media buying and/or self-serve stuff e.g. SiteScout.

You plug in the offer URL and find a list of 10 sites which are sending a lot of traffic to the offer. This generally means someone is running ads on those sites which are working well. So, you then compete by also buying ads on that site. For whatever reason, the demographic visiting that site probably converts well on the offer.

You then look for similar sites to those or even referrers to those sites - spidering out to find where that demographic lives, what sites they visit. You find placements on these sites >> profits?

It's all about knowing where to buy ads and where valuable demographics are.

Consider Facebook as well - say you find a lot of visitors to X offer are coming from The Chive. You then go to FB, run the offer and specifically target people who like The Chive.

Hopefully this makes it a bit clearer why referrer info can be so valuable!

OK and there is also boxofads.com ..now how do we make use of this in comparison with URL scraper and similarweb ?
Which tool is to be used for Direct Linking and /or Landing page?

boxofads is mainly for looking at the landing pages people use and have an idea of what works for that particular niche, you could also steal the exact landing page if you want but most of them would tell you that stealing landing pages wont get you far.

url scraper allows you to scrap URLs off search engines such as google, bing and yahoo

similarweb gives you data over a particular URL and other sites that are similar to it
