Has anyone tried to build a targeted audience using ppv? then promote offers through media buying retargeting?
Are you talking about capturing emails / other leads through PPV as well as using retargeting pixels or just using PPV to add them to a retargeting list?
In the latter case it sounds like a good add-on to a campaign but might be a bit expensive on its own!
I am talking about putting the pixel cookie into user's browser, then retarget him using retargeting.
If all you're doing with the pop-up window is using it to build a retargeting list, my guess is that the cost of acquisition will work out higher than your profits.
Normally you'd build a list and use the pop-up to advertise an offer, a list or whatever directly.
I've not heard of anyone just dropping a pixel and nothing else.
Ye I've tried a few campaigns where we target all our competitors pages and partner niches for a PPV opt in campaign. Pixels are dropped too and if they're not on the purchase list (pixel on post purchase page) we re-targeted them straight to our sales device.
We did get it profitable but the price at which we had to bid made the volume not worth continuing.
