Noob Questions: Product Pricing, Domains, Hosting, Video

Hi, after deciding to do a passion project instead of one more half-heartedly project, I wanted to ask for some tips and pointers.

Tip: With the Honey Chrome Plugin you can save some bucks with godaddy. You can get a .com Domain for one year with privacy for around a dollar.

1. Hosting:
I already read How To Choose The Right Web Host For Your Affiliate Marketing, but as I wanted to go with wordpress I wondered if I should still follow the advise or if anybody knows a better alternative for english wordpress sites? Because until now I always used "noob" shared hosting for wordpress sites.

2. Product Pricing:
I already read a lot about it and I definitely have to test it all myself, but maybe somebody here has also great suggestions or a great book about product pricing which you can recommend?

3. Video
Can somebody recommend a nice video editing software? I tried Final Cut Pro, but it seems rather difficult and iMovie has little features.

Thanks for reading and any suggestion & advice is welcomed,
graham

Thanks for the tip! I just added that extension.

1. Don't go with noob shared hosting. You aren't giving yourself a fair shot at making campaigns work if you do that. Do what Caurmen recommended.

2. Try this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Influence-Ps.../dp/006124189X

3. Depends what you what the video for. I highly recommend final cut pro if you are wanting to do something special. If you want to make a text based sales video than adobe after effects is decent.

Yes, definitely, go with a better solution than shared hosting.

For Wordpress hosting specifically, I HIGHLY recommend going with a dedicated Wordpress host. Wordpress is an absolute pain in the arse to host reliably if you're installing it yourself: you've got to consider security, updates, spam management, backups and caching. Each of those are a major project, particularly caching: if you don't know exactly what you're doing, getting a solid caching setup can take about a week of reading and being confused.

There are a few dedicated Wordpress hosts out there: I use WP Engine but I've heard good things about the Copyblogger hosting platform Synthesis too.

Video editing: I use Adobe Premiere for tasks up to and including feature film edits. If you get Adobe Creative Cloud you also get access to After Effects, as Mr Green mentions, which is a lousy editor but an amazing motion graphics and special effects platform.

Premiere's certainly a good choice for any regular sales video you're likely to do.

I used to use Final Cut Pro, but Apple fucked the software up wicked bad with their Final Cut X rebrand, and I've yet to go back to see if they fixed it. If they have, it's a good choice too.
