Not a good time of the year for newbies?

Hello all!

Just read that December's probably not a good time to start launching campaigns if you're a newbie. Is that because bidding prices sky rocket? If so whats the cause of it? Is this a blanket warning for all of affiliate marketing or are there areas that aren't affected that newbies can still touch?

Thanks heaps!

If you're just starting, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Bid prices do go up - notably on Facebook and display advertising - but other areas like POF and adult aren't so badly affected.

In general conversions are likely to be a bit lower, but that's a very rough rule.

And if you're just starting, your first month is likely to be learning time anyway, so it doesn't make very much difference if you start at this time of year. If anything, it's likely to actually line up pretty well, as January/February will hit just as you're starting to get the hang of running campaigns and optimising, which depending on your niche will give you a bit of a boost.

It will never be the perfect timing.

I would just read the forums to learn the basics and would start testing right after.

Thanks for the response guys.

Yeah, I wasn't thinking it was a good idea to hold off anyway.

Basically there is no time like now! I also would suggest like bbrock said to read the forums and pick just 1 traffic source and master it like there is no tomorrow. It's never too late for anything.
