Facebook, Life and who knows..... (19)

Facebook, Life and who knows.....

I was going to do an introduction thread but I figured it would be better to just include it in my follow along thread.
I am coming from a SEO background and after 5+ years I am tired of dealing with the Algo swings, I have usually welcomed the updates as it tends to cull the herd. But I have grown tired of having to wait weeks+ to reap the rewards and I just don't see the ROI I use to. I dealt in fairly competitive niches none CPA related unfortunately. I spent the last 1-2 weeks contemplating which direction to take my business/life in and decided paid traffic/affiliate marketing would be the best transition from my current setup.

I have been bleeding money for the last few months and just canceling all my bulletproof servers and recurring monthly license fee's leaves me with a decent testing budget. I am still generating income from some clients but to be honest I would prefer to just fire them all as the income is not worth the time and frustration. I have also been so focused on work that I have become incredibly unhealthy over the last 12-18 months and I will take this opportunity to also address that. I have probably gained well over 100lbs over the last 18 months just another one of those former High School athletes who wakes up one day in his early 30's and realizes he has become one fat bastard.

I am going to be doing a fairly long follow along focusing initially on Facebook and gaming offers. Depending on how this develops I will probably branch out into other offers. I know Facebook has been pretty insane lately with risk management and many members have had their accounts go boom. I actually see this as a plus hoping it has created a barrier of entry for the lazy affiliate marketers. I will be structuring this follow along a little differently than most as it will not just have a xxx/day goal. I am more interested in building and honing the skills necessary to maintain a decent profit/day in this industry.

Dec Goals

Long Term Goals Mar 1st

I will try to keep this updated daily with what I have accomplished and what I have planned for the next day as well as stats for campaigns I am currently running. I will also be posting updates on how I am doing with getting my health back on track. As I stated above I am not really expecting to hit any real ROI anytime soon I am more focused on learning the in's and out's of marketing and hopefully steer clear of any bad habits new members pickup. I am able to spend quite a but more than the budget above but I feel I would be better served to focus on the structure of a campaign and what is making it profitable instead of just throwing shit against the wall and praying.

Awesome mate, looking forward to this one. If you haven't seen or heard of before, something that will make your health goals very easy and manageable is Martin Berkhans www.leangains.com

Couple of stackers I know use this and its a great way to stay focused on your financial goals, while the weight drops off (or on if muscle is your goal) while not stressing over eating every couple of hours which is marketing bullshit (Meal replacements etc) XD Just a suggestion you may wanna check it out.

You've got a really good planned out list here, so I am following you man get the foundations down and start smashing it out!

Im not sure what people are doing these days but I use to take a ECA stack to cut weight for hockey after the football season was over. I think the only way to do that these days is to use stupid shit like bronkaid for the Ephedra part of the ECA stack.

Also anyone know any decent networks for FB game offers?

Welcome! Looking forward to hearing how you progress. Sounds like you've got a solid plan there.

I had a similar experience to you with sudden weight gain in your 30s a couple of years back! Personally I rate Paleo as the best way I've found to lose weight without too much stress, but I've heard good things about Leangains too.

If you've got any questions or hit any problems, please do feel free to post 'em and we'll all leap in to help out! As far as CPVLab tracking goes, you'll probably find the link in my signature to be very useful - let me know if there's anything in there you feel needs more coverage.

Just a quick update as I have not started the campaign yet, I was busy doing setup, research and mucho forum reading. I woke up this morning recorded my weight(306lbs holy fuck) and hit the gym to start the day off right! Decided against starting out with the gaming offer and moved onto an email submit(advice of my AM). I also submitted applications to F5 and a couple of other networks so I will be able to split test. I also did some research on email submits and how they are being pushed on FB so I should be ready to launch tomorrow morning.

Dec 3nd Goals:

I am planning to create each campaign with 3 duplicate images and the same ad copy to combat FB's odd impression Algo.
I was also planning on segmenting the demo's into separate campaigns as well(break up Men and Women then further sub divide into age brackets.

I am not sure if this is really necessary at this point since its my first campaign, I was wondering if I should just keep it simple until I get a grasp on what images will work best etc etc. Any feedback would be welcome.

I welcome all feedback just hit me up on skype MrWalter.Mitty

Looks good! I usually avoid email submits, but initially they may be good just to get an idea of how things work! Which networks are you with?

At the moment adsimilis and abovealloffers just got an email yesterday about needing to do a phone interview with f5 and still waiting on wolfstorm to get back to me.

Since you are doing games I'd recommend glispa.com too.

Looking good man.. sounds like you have a good list of goals and things to do.

I probably spend about 10-12 hours a day on the computer. Gained too much weight lately and getting some joint pain.. so I forced myself to do a simple workout:

Done as fast as possible:
3 sets of
10 Burpees
15 Pushups
20 BW Squats
25 Situps

Run around the neighborhood for about 20-30 minutes. I've done this daily and my joints finally stopped aching.

It's nothing compared to real squats, deadlifts or cleans whatever, but it's the most efficient use of my time without spending 1-2 hours going to the gym.

Being an athlete, you probably have a results mentality and competitive spirit, so you're going to fit right in

Anyway, welcome to STM!

Nice goals you have here, good luck!

I need to ask you how you decided that you want to lose exactly 15 pounds in a month. At least that’s what I understand after reading. I would advise you to join a forum like bodybuilding.com and read more about losing weight and fitness because to set the goal only in lbs of weight isn’t really optimal. It’s fat that you want to lose, and preserve muscle. So besides tracking weight, you could also track your waist size and take pictures in underwear once a month.

I not trying to be a smart ass here, just giving advice that you may lose 15 lbs in the 1st month but that probably won’t be 15 lbs of fat and that such rate of weight loss is probably unsustainable. The more overweight you are at the moment, the more you’ll drop in your first month, but don’t lose motivation if it soon slows down, just keep going and stay focused on what you want to achieve

It has been 4+ days since my last update and I have gotten a allot accomplished. I am still keeping up with the gym and I feel healthier and more energetic than any time in the past 18+ months. I have read almost every single Facebook follow along and thread in the fb forum. I have spent the last few days setting up and testing rebills on Facebook. I understand the risks and the 100% ban from Facebook is a when not if. That being said I have had experience in the past setting up multiple accounts with Facebook and adwords accounts so that is not an issue.

I am testing offers in the weight loss rebill vertical and while I understand it is a saturated vertical I am still at a loss for words on how poorly it is going. My cloaker is working perfectly and I have no issue getting my ads approved or running them, I am getting very good CTR and my cpc's are very low at around .06-.08. However the lander CTR and CVR is so low I am left scratching my head. I admit I started out running what everyone else is but I have since heavily edited the landers and yet I am still not making any headway. I am about break even which is only due to the crazy low cpc's and what I would assume is dumb luck.

For example today I had 531 clicks 17 clicks to offer from lander and 0 conversions, the only thing I can think of is my AD is to good and attracting clicks from people who are curious but have no intention of ever signing up for a trial.

Any thoughts would be appreciated and as always you guys can hit me up on skype mrwalter.mitty I would love ANY feedback or insight that could be offered.

Might as well put some demo info also:

One thought on this: have you tested your funnel including cloaker really thoroughly to make sure that there are no slowdowns in loading time or broken links? If I see a really terrible result from a campaign I'm running, a significant amount of the time it's because I've made an error with my technical setup.

I'm guessing you've probably thought of this already, but it's worth mentioning just in case!

12-10-2013 03:30 PM #16 waltermitty (Senior Member)

I have checked that and all looks good, checked it from multiple computers and from multiple locations. To be honest I think my biggest issue is crafting the ad's to make sure I am getting buyers and not just lookers. No one really discuses fb cloaking anymore and for good reason but coming up with ad's that both attract buyers while being approve-able is not always the easiest thing.

I will just continue to test new ad copy and see if I can increase lander CTR and CVR.

12-10-2013 07:48 PM #17 waltermitty (Senior Member)

Working on some new Ad copy today that will hopefully only draw buyers while still getting cheap traffic. Goal is to have at least 10+ Unique Ad's+Copy to upload for approval before the end of the day. Also working on 5 or so new lander's with unique angles much different than the celeb bullshit you see everywhere.

On another note the CPC's keep dropping for my campaigns, I have a bunch of ad/campaigns that are performing the same way. The CPC's are so low the campaigns are profitable but probably not easily scale-able.

12-11-2013 11:29 AM #18 caurmen (Administrator)

Whoa, those are pretty low! Nice one.

12-11-2013 04:34 PM #19 waltermitty (Senior Member)

Update 12/10
Clicks: 1600
ClicksOffer:71
CVR:10
Revenue:$380
Spent:$78
ROI:387%

Not bad my first $300 Profit/day in affiliate marketing, things are starting to come easier and I can pretty much tell what is going to do well and what is going to bomb before the testing is even over. I am not happy with the CTR from from the landing page to offer or really the conversion rate of the lander itself. So much room for improvement but its nice not to be bleeding money at this point. I really need to come up with some new fresh angles because .04CPC's will not last forever and that is the only reason I am profitable at this point.
