Following Tut 2013 - No similar recommendations

Hey everyone,

I'm following through with caurmen's 2013 tutorial and so far I have understood everything. I have signed up (or already had an account) with the following companies:

I asked my AM's for some recommendations regarding mainstream dating offers and got a lot of them. Some were niche (like chines, military etc.) and some are more general sites. However none of the networks recommended the same offers. So here are my two (very newbie) questions:

  1. Should I go more into a niche like the aforementioned chinese, military etc. or better a broad one?
  2. If I don't get similarities from my AM's I understand that I don't have the chance to test networks against each other. But from what I have read so far, this is a crucial step. Any idea what to do? Should I try to search each of the offers in each of the networks to see if I can find the same offer and they have just not been recommended?

Thanks again for helping a newbie!

i.

Alright... just as always I answered the question myself ("always" meaning that I always come to an answer after I have posted my question)...

As I have been recommended around 20 offers from 4 networks I compared each offer with the other networks (took me about an hour) so I found some that were available on other networks.

Now there is another question and I just want to get some feedback about that from you:

I have only one offer that is available in 4 networks. However, this offer is in french where I only have basic language skills. I could write something in English or my mother tongue German. I have another offer in Spanish available in 3 networks. My intention would be not to go for these as I'm not sure if later in the process I would be able to come up with good ad headlines and body texts. How do you go about something like this?

I would just use onehourtranslation if you want to translate to french.

Hi bbrock,

so you translate all the sentences to english (to understand) and than adjust and translate back to french? I mean onehourtranslation is incredibly cheap as it seems but I just want to make sure that I understand the "logic"

May I also ask how you research those? E. g. if it is xyDates French - What's the "search term" you would put into the POF ad spy?

THANKS for helping a newb...

Yep, exactly - write your ad copy in English (or whatever language you're most comfortable with) then get it translated.

If you possibly can, I'd avoid advertising in English-speaking markets until you have more experience - they're a lot tougher and more crowded.

(Actually, it's not a bad idea to just avoid English-speaking markets forever. The barrier to entry of having to get text translated makes non-English markets a LOT easier.)
