Been looking to get back into running campaigns and got started again with mobile yesterday so I thought it would be good to start a mobile follow along to get insight from all of you that are way better at this than me.
Background: Used to do health/diet AM/seo and eventually got tired of dealing with random google animals and all that fun stuff. My day job is manager of mobile operations for a agency focused network that also acquired a mobile self serve dsp (also caters to agency/branding clients). This has made me lean towards mobile in my getting the dust off my AMness.
My start yesterday: I decided to get off my ass yesterday and start running and testing. I have started with Incrowd because they have some lighting fast ad approval times which helped me get started testing yesterday. I went through about 5-6 different offers from a couple networks and finally found one that actually converted (woohoo!). I split test similar offers around the same thing between two networks and saw that one networks offer converted while one just would not convert at all. I decided to move forward with the one that did convert.
Once I found my offer I started testing different ads direct linking to the offer. Design is my insanely weak point so this will make things more difficult as I move forward and is something I will have to scour the googlewebs for tutorials on. I went through a bunch of different ads until I found one that converted enough to let me start analyzing some data. The numbers probably aren't enough to be statistically significant but It's letting me learn the incrowd platform and traffic while still getting some conversions.
I have so far come to realize, as did my fellow mobiler in the bro do you even lift follow along that this will really be all about getting my ad game up so i can get my CPC down. I have been running for 2 hours today and am at a 5 cent cpc with 20 conversions and my CPA is 10 cents above what my payout from the network is (how many conversions do you wait for in mobile before asking for a quality check and bump on a sweepstakes type offer?). I must get my cpc down and my cvr up! Currently at a 4% CVR. I definitely need to get a landing page in the mix which should hopefully increase my conversion rate once I find something that works landing page wise. I am currently running things on a knownhost top level vps with ssd. I will run with this until I deem that it is too slow for the mobiles. I am also using imobitrax which is pretty awesome so far.
My gameplan for today is to keep rotating in new crappily designed banners until I can find some more that work to run with. I will also start looking into landing pages based off of the mobile optimized tutorial in this section.
Yesterday: lost a couple hundred to get about 75ish back (I was also running at a bid that was twice as high as what it should have been I found out from testing).
Today: so far at about 20 conversions and not too far under break even.
I'm looking forward to learning a lot through this from trial and error and advice as well as letting others learn off my losses! I probably won't get this updated daily as my day job of getting a mobile department going is pretty hectic but I will do my best to update a few times a week. I will also have metrics and stats in my future updates.

Found another offer that looks like it could work. Have one ad testing it and it's going at a 5% cvr DL. CTR is only 0.24% after blacklisting some junky apps/sites so I have a couple new ones waiting for approval. Hopefully I can get the ctr up to this offer. I am testing sweeps types offers now and am not using the word free in my ads. I don't see any restrictions against it in the offer descrip section in my aff network but what are your alls thoughts on the word free in sweepstakes offers? might kill quality or do you run with it?
looks like all my convertingness died right after my last post, lol. do you guys typically notice daytime slumps? I know i see it in delivery on brand campaigns at work but am not sure how it affects these sorts of campaigns.
my conversions never really picked up hugely yesterday after the morning/early afternoon. Looks like dayparting will be key with these offers.
My attempts at landing pages didn't really give anything above a 3%cvr which was around the same ad DL. I used the example from the mobile page walkthrough in the mobile section and edited it to fit my offer. I will post a screenshot of it later. Anyone have any old landing page design/templates they wouldn't mind sharing to give me an idea of directions to go when I make my next ones?
