Can anyone help me understand this? (12)

Can anyone help me understand this?

So I have been doing PPV for a few years. I have one campaign that I have been running for about 4 months. It has always had a 2-4% landing page click thru rate and a 5% conversion rate on the clicks.

Yesterday the campaign exploded and floated around 7-9% CTR and 8-10% conversion rate.

This wasn't a small fluke on 25 views or something - the campaign had 35k views yesterday.

Today it is back to normal again.

My only idea was maybe with Q4 almost in full swing or the launch of PS4 today? This is in the financial niche though, so I don't see how it would correlate with the PS4 launch.

I have never had any anomalies like this before - anyone have experiences like this in the past?

Hmm weird, was that only on 1 site or on all the urls you were targeting?

Forgot to mention, across all URL targets the CTR was way higher. Target list of 2,500

The campaign brought in a HUGE amount of profit yesterday so I would love to figure this out and replicate the results.

Bids/placements are the same as yesterday also.

Hmmm that does seem strange, did you ask the network?

My next step was to try asking the traffic source, is that what you mean?

Thanks!

Yeah, that seems like something on the network side. Especially based on the lifetime you've run the campaign and the amount of targets you have.

Maybe competitor with higher bid was out of funds and you get "fresh" traffic?

Yep , looks like it's most fresh new traffic.

Either the top competitor lowered the bids or maybe LI had a spike in new installs ?

Hey guys,

I have been in 1st place for the most part and was in 1st the day before, day of, and day after.

Spike in fresh installs makes a lot of sense though! If they tell me that was the reason I'll report back

I had the exact opposite occur last week; although mine was just one high volume URL. My LP CTR was around 15% and the campaign was running profitable for a few months. Then one day out of the blue I get a huge surge of traffic and CTR plummets to around 9% and the campaign is no longer profitable. It almost seemed as if the frequency cap was lifted (it was set at 2 weeks) and I was getting old traffic. I tried pausing/changing settings/etc. but nothing worked.

Is it about LI? I think they used your campaign already and on your "happy" day something went wrong and you got all the traffic available.

The interesting thing is that they don't ban your keywords if they want the same traffic, you're still the top bidder but the traffic simply disappear

Let us know their answer...

Same thing happened to me on LI. Does anyone know the reason for that? I'm suspecting that on that particular day I was receiving traffic from 1 of LI's partner networks?
