Hi guys,
trying to get rid of my analysis paralysis and need some questions answered - feels like I used those questions as an excuse not to take action.
Don't expect anyone to answer all of them btw
So the traffic source I am concentrating on is Facebook and I would say I have almost expert knowledge in how to handle power editor/custom audiences etc. but I only had little success with my PPC offers (0 to negativ ROI).
Q1: I have a lot of custom audiences to target (mostly between 2000 and 5000 people) but I see barely custom audience targeting on here. Lot of times I even read about not even targeting after interest (only age gender etc.). Anyone made good experiences with small, laser targeted custom audiences? Any good threads on that? Are there people out there using scraper tools to scrape groups/pages/events? E.G. I was thinking targeting people that attend SEO events and then advertise SEO Tools to them (Seo MOZ, Sistrix etc.)...
Q2: Why is there (almost) no information on STM about how to advertise in the Facebook Newsfeed? Sponsored Posts, Mobile etc. is IMO a good place to advertise. (I have to admit I did not check the mobile sub section of stm yet)
Q3: Is it possible to scrape the facebook graph search results? I see huge potential in that. (Think targeting people who use dating apps and are named "michael". You could write ad copy with a direct call to action that includes the readers name. Isn't that boosting your CTR through the roof?)
Q4: I am based in Germany, the huge dating sites in Germany are signed up with affili.net and zanox.de. But they require an actual web presence to apply to their networks. I used to apply with random web projects from me but of course I always get denied...
How do you guys apply to those networks and how do you get approved? Or do you send in your lander for approval? I know peerfly, neverblue etc also have German Dating offers, but not as many different dating platforms..
Q5: This is an easy one: Everyone is talking about Facebook accounts getting banned. Do they ban your whole account gone or only your ad-account? Because I am advertising currently with my private main account, should probably create a new one then..
Q6: Still don't really know how to proberly cloak facebook links. I am cloaking currently with prosper202 (on a shared server
) and all my ads seem to get approved on facebook. However I heard that prosper cloaking is only to hide the traffic source from the affiliate network right? How can I cloak so that FB does not follow my links? Any good information out there on cloaking properly?
Q7: I only used to direct link from facebook to landing pages. Since I am on STM, I know that you should use landers. I read the 2013 Beginners Guide but it did not get into details about landers. E.G.: Do you buy domains and put your landers there? Is there a good way to specifically look for german landers from affiliates that market on facebook? Tried the STM Adult Spy but could only find porn related stuff (ok, seems legit
).
Q8: Heard about Slip Streaming (seems to be very blackhat), could someone sum it up for me and are people still using this?
Q9: STM is maybe not the best place to ask this, but apart from all the affiliate networks, is there a list somewhere where I can see all of the current information products out there that have an affiliate program? I am talking stuff like How to make 1000$ a month by noah keagan, how to start a blog that matters by corbett bar, and other good how to make money online courses. Also: Forums like STM have affiliate programs, Hosting Providers, Social Lead Freak etc. Isn't there a directory where I can see a list of all of those?
Q10: Would you be interested if I started a follow along with news feed advertising?
Q11: As it is mandatory to have a fanpage to advertise on the newsfeed in facebook, I am the owner of a few facebook fanpages (One in the weight loss niche, the other one is fitness). Any more good tips on monetizing facebook fanpages? Fond little information on STM. Basically I wanted to go to clickbank, bit.ly my hoplink, write a blog post about a new recipe book, put a nice picture of food in there, but the bitly link below and promote the post. Does this seem like a good idea to you?
Sorry for the ton of questions
Cheers
OK, my FB campaigns are mostly very boringly conservative (largely not even for affiliate stuff) but I'll do my best to answer here!
Q1: The issue's going to be volume. However, if you don't mind making smaller numbers, it sounds like a solid plan. With reference to your specific example, bear in mind that a lot of SEO people are pretty clued up already about offers in their space, so you may find that advertising MOZ, say, doesn't do so well...
Q4: Just set yourself up a minimal business website, call yourself an advertising consultancy or similar. Zeno posted a great boilerplate biz page a while back: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...usiness-Lander!
Q7: There's an excellent way, but it costs a bit of money: http://www.socialadninja.com/
Q9: You can check through the major affiliate program sites like ShareaSale, Clickbank and Commission Junction. Other than that I don't know of a directory site like that. Wish I did! Note that ShareaSale and Clickbank are both goldmines for the kind of narrow interest targeting you're talking about in #1 - you can find a lot of wierd niches in there and profit on them.
Q10: Absolutely! And if you start it I'm sure you'll get a ton of great advice.
Q2: People are advertising using facebook, but they're maybe they're keeping it to themselves. There's quite a few people using cloaking too. With your follow along, you can probably get feedback from them.
Q3: I've never scraped the graph search, but that can be valuable info. Be careful with scraping facebook though, they monitor automated processes and have sent C&Ds. They'll close out all facebook accounts connected to the IPs you're using to scrape
Q5: From my experience and from others, they'll ban your account, your gf's account, your mom's account, etc. I've had to talk to one of their lawyers at one point to get my personal facebook back.
Q10: Definitely. There's guys making bank with fb ads so it would be in your benefit to get feedback from these guys.
Q11: That sounds like a good idea. I'm going to guess you're doing one of the Paleo books? I think that's a hot niche to go in.. fitness/crossfit guys are all about paleo
