One of my VPSs went down for 7-8 hours a few days ago and I decided to upgrade my 2 VPSs to one dedicated server.
I asked them to combine my 2 VPSs to one dedicated server and gave them my Godaddy login info for dns updating.
It took like 12 hours so to finish my upgrade.
But I just found out that they only transfer one of VPSs to dedi and the other vps is still active.
After I asked them to transfer the other one to my new dedi, I found out that they didn't update my dns info on my domains.
After I asked them to update my dns info, my noIPfraud was getting errors.
They did fix the problems but this is just really frustrating and disappointing.
They used to be good but I now have nothing but problems.
I really want to talk to Tyler about this over the phone not thru their ticket system.
I kept asking phone number but they just won't give it to me.
I am so stupid, I should have listened to people and move to another hosting.
KnownHost still has their 15% off for life deal:
http://www.knownhost.com/specials.html
I'm currently on 2GB ram + LiteSpeed + a bunch of additional IPs + CPanel and it's the best deal I've ever found, and they smash BeyondHosting in terms of history and reliability (of course, your mileage may vary).
If you need them to do anything, just ask. I've had them help me out with PHP issues but in retrospect that was rude of me.
+1 for knownhost.
Their support really is incredible. I've been sending in a few tickets this weekend at times ranging from 2am to mid morning to evening and gotten very nice and helpful responses within 2 minutes in all cases. They really do take care of any type of question for you asap to the best of their abilities.
I hope Tyler chimes in here , these threads are becoming very frequent.
Can KnownHost help set up Geo db?
Do they work well with CPVLab?
Known Host only allows 6 Ips on their VPSs.
2 that come with the VPS and 4 more.
All others beyond the 6 need to be SSL's.
Everyone at this forum is so quick to spout other brands and try to push a sale.. its rather disappointing honestly. I don't see known host or anyone else on this forum trying to help customers. My info is readily available, all customers have my email at signup.. I'd like if you take advantage of it instead of making threads. We will resolve all of your issues to your satisfaction, you just have to ask.
Thanks MrGoogle for contacting me, I look forward to your call in the morning so we can go over everything.
If anyone else has questions or concerns call me. You have my direct number.
Respect to Tyler for coming on here. No host is perfect, and while downtime sucks, I just got an account at wiredtree and I'm having problems I never had with beyond. Constant attacks from chinese IP addresses and other things.
Here's my take on it...
Like anything on life you get what you pay for. If my dedi goes down for extended periods of time I'd be mad and I'd have good reason to be mad.
Seems like most people who complain are on a VPS!!? That's only slightly better than shared hosting.
I've been with Beyond for 2 years and I have very few complaints if any. You won't find too many hosts where the boss is responding the way Tyler does.
It's worth noting here that virtually every hosting provider has problems at one time or another. If the problems are consistent, that's a different problem, but blips in service are something that happens to almost everyone.
Of the hosts I use regularly (almost all unmanaged because that's just how I roll), Linode have had a pretty massive security fuck-up in the recent past, my Bytemark server once melted down completely and had to be replaced, and WP Engine had a fairly significant uptime wobble about six months ago. They're still all ace, and I still use 'em a lot.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
Yes we've had some problems the past few months, were working hard as we can to prevent these from happening. I would appreciate if everyone can just work through it with us, you have my direct contact information, please use it if you need to. I don't expect anyone to like us for the fan following, i expect you to like us because were being open about as much as we can and working with anyone having an issue.
I had my call with MrGoogle this morning and his final closing words were "thank you tyler I feel a lot better now". I was very open honest and told him everything going on here and why he was having the issues in support he did. We are going to have a meeting this morning with everyone in support to cover all the things he outlined for me.
I appreciate the call!
Yes, I am feeling much better now.
Tyler is the reason that I'm staying with BH and he is only one that I can really rely on.
I really think that he is going to make some changes to make BH much better.
Thank you.
Is anyone else having issues with emails hosted by Beyond Hosting? I've had similar issues in the past where the email account is working fine for weeks and then I wake up one morning and it just stops working (ie. I can't send or receive mail). The problem cropped up again today. I get error messages on the Mac Mail client when I try to send emails ("Cannot connect to server"). It looks like a server side issue because when I try to access the email account via Webmail, I get the message "SMTP Error (-1): Connection to server failed."
Tried providing as much information and screenshots to Support Desk but they come back with screenshots and instructions that were clearly for Windows instead of a Mac because there is no area to make the changes they suggest on the Mac interface. Support even tells me "None of your screen shots really showed what I need to see" and ends the email at that. How is that helpful in any way?!
So, long story short, if anyone has had similar problems, please let me know how you resolved it on a Mac because I'm not getting much help from the Support Desk. Thanks.
Ok after some back and forth with Support, they managed to resolve the issue. So for anyone who has problems in the future with mail accounts hosted on BH, tell them to try restarting EXIM and make sure that the connectors for the web mail services are working correctly. It fixed the problem for me.
Thanks Archer, we very very rarely see issues with cPanel exim mail.
I have been with BH since May on a VPS 2048 with LiteSpeed and the Backup service.
I run around 10,000 clicks a day on several LPs.
I have yet to have a single down day.
^ I've used Beyondhosting for a long time, I've got nothing but good things to say. Survived many DDOS and stupidly quick response times
I have some servers with them ( dedicated ) and didn't have any downtime at all.
I know everyone expects 100% uptime , but realistically that's tough when you pay $49 / month.
If you do volume definitively get a dedicated. If you do huge volume get couple servers and load balance them.
Load balancing is not terribly simple to set up, but it's well-understood in the tech/webapp world. I'm sure it's the kind of thing that BH could handle for you.
