banners getting ripped..

not sure if this thread belongs in here, and im sure this has been covered already, but i cant find anything on it skimming thru.
Is there anyway to prevent my banners being ripped? Man...it sucks putting in the time and effort to only get them right-clicked faster than i can even get a conversion with it.

There is not. Best bet is to make them all flash. Still can be ripped but people are lazy and won't decompile. At least they'll need to recreate.

Could also try add your domain name at the bottom. Cheeky bit of branding for ya.

That is indeed good to prevent copying, but how do you deal with users that can't see flash? Especially in the mobile space there are a lot of handhelds that don't support flash. Also Safari now pauzes flash elements by default, you have to click them to start them.

I would love to see if there is any difference though, anyone done a test comparing flash to gif?

I don't copy and save banners on mobile. Still use a blackberry

So not sure there.

Wouldn't the flash file take longer to load. I would assume its a heavier file. I would just put the website on it. Although there really no stopping someone from ripping it. Comes with the territory, like if your doing adult dating.. your 100% guaranteed a rip lol.

Largest buyers I know are LowerMyBills.com/classesUSA.com (experian) and they run flash so couldn't be all bad

A Flash file shouldn't be much larger than a static image. If you're doing animation, it's likely to be smaller than a .gif - another reason to run them.

Flash + URL embedded halfway through the flash process is your best bet, but i never see anyone do it.
or URL on every frame covering a bit of the images.

Honestly if someone wants to rip your banners they will find a way to do it.

I would just move on and be always one step ahead.

Yeah, but you can definitely slow the copying/fend off a lot of the lazy copycats!

Creatives and LPs are going to get jacked no matter how much protection we try to apply to them. It might slow down the copying and is most definitely better than doing nothing. However, in the end, it would be best that you get used to switching your creatives relatively fast once you spot their decline.

Some guys here already mentioned one network that copies other's people work and after that they say "we have the largest banner database for our affiliates".

For the sake of fun we can share some interesting referrers; I often see: ripper.banners.advidi.com
