Beyond Hosting (16)
Hey guys,
I'm new here and have been reading away and setting up and testing all my new stuff. I got a VPS with Beyond Hosting and I just wanted to say how amazing their customer service has been. I'm not well versed when it comes to the server-side stuff so not only did they set-up everything for me, but they also answered any and all of my questions.
Just wanted to say Robert from BH, especially, has been a huge help.
Back to work.
I wish BeyondHosting would take over the IRS and DMV.

Awesome service. So prompt, one can't even believe. Never seen this kind of prompt customer support. I needed it twice and you can't believe, they replied within 15 mins, both the times and resolved it in less than 30 mins.

You guys are aware that there are better hosts with LIVE 24/7 chat support right? I used BH in the past because it's the "community staple" but then after their servers started getting extremely slow I gave a shot in the dark and found a better option with more space and ram for the price incredible support. Just saying BH is overrated, not terrible, just not worth all the worship.
^^^ this guy speaks the truth. BH started good but these days is just overpriced shit with lots of downtimes + slow servers. When you complain, they'll reply with bullshit answers like" its just you, we havent had a downtime in 6 months". When you show them proofs (pingdom etc) they'll start making excuses like they got DDOSed & all that bullshit.
Can't wait to move from Beyond Hosting to be honest, moving asap. Yeah support is very fast, but massively incompetent.
+1 I moved from BH long ago to another host. For $20 extra a month my server is much faster and reliable, and I don't fear the possibility of data-harvesting given they're a hosting company that specializes in the affiliate space.
Honestly, support is great, but I'd rather better hosting with slightly slower support instead (especially for cheaper too).
They seem to get DDOS'd a lot. Affiliate hosting - go figure.
I have a few servers scattered around but I've always been happy with those at BH.
Who do you guys recommend instead?
If you are able to manage your own server I would recommend leaseweb. Been using them for about a year now and couldn't be more happy.

I was with BH for a while and had nothing but issues with it the whole time. Moved to Wired Tree and its been smooth sailing all the way so far.
Hi andy_d, what host do you use now?
I recommend LiquidWeb, KnownHost, and WiredTree. It's nice to be able to reach someone on the phone instead of waiting for emails.

Our uptime is actually really good, we have over 120 pingdom monitors setup with 99.999% global uptime which is VERY good.
VPS is a shared service, if your having issues with reliability dedicated is the best solution. Other host have these same problems, its a matter of luck if you end up on the node or if you don't thats getting attacked.
DDOS are a very real threat, its so easy to create a massive one now. We highly recommend all customers use cloudflare. They have a great write up on how dns recursion attacks work which is what most of them are now. http://blog.cloudflare.com/the-ddos-...e-the-internet
