Starting with PPV

Hi

I'm planning on running some Follow Along campaigns my questions are:

right now all I have is shared web hosting (hostgator) for my landers will this work to begin with?

I have tried to install the PPV software on a second computer to spy on ads but i dont get any pop ups. So what is the right software to download that is working right now?

I plan to make banners with photoshop then convert those to html. Is this a good approach?

Thanks guys.

Shared hosting will kill you, especially if you are running PPV where loading times are really important. Also, other than e.g. banner ads on Facebook, you get a bunch of visitors pretty quickly as each impression equals one visitor to your landing page, no matter if they click or not.

I would highly suggest to switch to a solid VPS instantly.

hey thanks for the reply.

What do you think of the following specs for a VPS from godaddy

• OS: Linux CentOS
• RAM: 1 GB
• Storage: 40 GB‡‡
• Bandwidth: 1,000 GB/mo

The specs look good - I'd be a bit wary of buying a VPS from GoDaddy, though. They don't have a great rep.

WiredTree, DigitalOcean, Linode, and of course Beyond Hosting all have solid reputations if you want alternatives.

Definitively stay away from godaddy for hosting.

There are tons of other good smaller hosts that can offer great support.

Beyondhosting / LiquidWeb are what most affiliates here use and they are not even expensive.

Alright no GoDaddy for me.
I was looking into DigitalOcean they offer cloud servers and cheaper than VPS. Are these recommended for PPV and overall marketing?
I barely know vps so i have no idea how cloud works. Thanks.

if you're not familiar with hosting, just get in touch with a rep from beyondhosting or wiredtree. You can shoot tyler beyondhosting a pm here as well as he's a member. When I was first starting, he gave me a very honest appraisal of what kind of vps I needed for the volume of traffic I was pushing. Didn't try to oversell or anything like that, just helped me get my server and tracker up and running extremely quickly / painlessly. I recommend doing this, and getting your attention focused on your campaigns right away.

Definitely agree with keepitsimple here: if you're not already comfortable with server administration, I'd strongly recommend getting a server set up for you. Beyond Hosting specialise in affiliate marketing hosting and can get everything started the right way.

There's already a lot to learn in affiliate marketing: don't make things any harder by also trying to learn server administration at the same time!
