Facebook Account Question / General Inquiry on Traffic Source

Hey all,

I had a question about Facebook accounts. Also a more general question / advice needed as a newbie.

Here's a little background on me and my experience so far. I started Internet Marketing around march. I got accepted into a couple CPA networks but I really and truly focused on SEO. I made a TON of mistakes in the beginning and got scammed out of a lot of money. Scammed I guess isn't the right term per say, but the products I bought (ready to go site earners and guru products) all fell 1000 feet short of the expectations they were made out to be. I spent about 5k and a lot of the people I worked with didn't even finish the products and just took out never to be heard from again. All these people and sellers were from the WF. Needless to say I stopped using that site and it is now on my sh*tlist.

After that I stumbled upon a guy named Alex Becker and his product SEO Omega. The product worked. It was the first product that actually worked - I took action and ranked a site with 1 article on it on page one for a KW with around 2k searches a month at the time. After finally seeing some success I stuck to his methods. After some time I tried my own methods and figured out my own strategies myself. I started my own SEO business but finding clients has been hard. I am in the middle right now of negotiations with my dentist who came to me suprisingly enough offing quite a sizable payment plan.

After success in SEO. I tried CPA and many traffic sources. Started with mobile - no luck (spent ~300$), went to PPV, no luck (spent ~$400) went to Bing - SUCCESS! I launched about 5 campaigns that I worked my *ss off on. I I set up tracking 202, made my own landers, own ad copies etc. I launched these campaigns and 2 of them broke even and one even went into some profit (Nothing crazy at all all 3 campaigns made ~275$ in revenue - profit was nothing due to the other failed campaigns). As soon as I tried to scale however, the offers were pulled and I was back to square one. Discouraged I went back to SEO for a while.

To date now I have 4 main sites. 2 of them tanked hard in the latest hummingbird update using greyhat tactics that worked extremely well before hand. The other two, one being an authority site which I only use whitehat SEO stayed consistent. The one that is a a niche site shot up like crazy with the update and is now dominating 2 KW searches that have 9k and 10k searches a month and some new articles I published have jumped straight to page two the next day. The site however only has adsense and generates a very low sum (around 1-2$ a day) The authority site is one I care about and has no monetization methods on it yet.

Here I am though, back again trying to figure this out after a small taste seeing that this truly does work. I recently tried Bing again. 5 campaigns. This time trying some others methods as well as the one I worked on before. My old method worked, the others did not. The campaign that was showing some hope however was only a $0.75 payout and the CPC on bing for the KWs I was going after was too high to see it make any profit. It did profit a little in the beginning but it quickly lost steam. ($7 spent -> $3.75 earned)

-----------------------------------------------------------

So I was looking at getting into Facebook. I tried Bing. Stuck to it for more than a month, learned it like the back of my hand. It works at times but lately I haven't had such luck. The problem with FB is this. I have done extensive reading of the FB forum here and it seems like account bans get thrown left and right.

Is it foolish to try FB? If I do try it how should I go about getting an account to spend? I was thinking of making a new one, but it seems those who do this are punished and aged accounts are the way to go. The only aged account I have on FB is my legit personal one which I have in the past used for Ads (my business and my gf's fanbook page) Both of these ads worked EXTREMELY well for us. At least I think. I played around with the headline, txt and image of the ad and going from around 4k impressions 0 likes to 1100+ likes in the matter of 5 days and around only ~$20 spent. The users who liked also are active on the page to this very day (this was about 1.5 months ago) Should I forget facebook and stick to Bing or is there another traffic source I should get into?

I'm a legit guy. I don't want to run dating ads or anything shady. Anything I would run would pass the WOT test.

Sorry this got so long winded and turned into a story, but I figured it's best to know some background to help in answering the question. Thanks to all that can find the time to reply.

You got something working on bing didnt you? Why not try other offers in that niche, assuming its dieting/bizopp/skin?

Hey, and welcome to the forums!

What makes you want to move to a new traffic source at this point? Is there something about Bing that you feel means you can't scale there?

If you can, I'd definitely advise sticking to Bing for now - you know it and you've made it work, which is a big deal. Move to another traffic source after you've maxed out your earnings on Bing.

Thank you ohaiguyz (funny name and avatar btw) and caurmen (thank you for the warm welcome, I am very shy and I appreciate it),

I guess after trying out Facebook and seeing how it worked it just felt so much better and for me easier to edit pictures and use that as a way to drive my CTR rather than text. That and the many success stories I've been reading on it in the past month. Seems theres such little info about Bing and while that may seem like a greta thing for people like me, (less competition) it also frightens me to try something without much others input / advice. Just seems like Facebook in comparison has so much more to go on, tools available and the like. You are right though, I have spent a lot of time effort and money learning the traffic source and feel extremely comfortable with it.

I actually have not tried any of those niches ohai, I had been focusing on financial and survey. I wanted to go into them however to try them out - perhaps I will do that and see what I can cook up. The financial one was the one I got working really good and more recently with the .75 offer, but it seems I can't find a way to make the fish bite anymore with the surveys. (tried ~$50 spend with 0 conversions on a less than $5 payout)

Is there any tips you could recommend me? How much / long / impressions wise should I try an offer before scrapping it? I guess I am at the point where I am trying to determine if I should run with an offer or try something else. Like how to find a potential winner.

Thanks so much, this forum has been a godsend to me the month I have had it and the wealth of knowledge is incredible.
