Has anyone experienced issues with PoFPro loading for a while until the Internal Server Error 500 message pops up?
I have a VPS on Beyond Hosting and it was smooth sailing for over month until yesterday (Monday). Beyond Hosting already suspended and then unsusupended my account to get it working again (twice now), but it keeps running into the error after a few hours.
The first response I got from them was: "What was probably happening was that one of your processes for this account was stuck on something, and was getting in the way of any other page being loaded or processed. This is a pretty rare occurrence."
I did launch a bunch of new campaigns on Friday and let them run over the weekend. I'm waiting for them to answer back on what can be done about it.. I had to login through ads.pof.com to check out clicks and pause my campaigns just now cause stuff ain't converting no more (dead link)!
Tom from PoFPro told me yesterday it's an issue on my host's end. I'm wondering if it's time to upgrade the server. Has anyone had this issue? If so, what did you do?
Hey dude,
I've never heard of anyone getting this specific error. This error is really vague, and doesn't actually say much about the actual error. So, you don't know what's going on with the server hardware at all. It could just be failing.
Long story short, I'm not sure what's going on over at BH but it definitely says what you have isn't going to do. Out of all of our users, there seems to always be some problem with BH servers, whether it's downtime or hardware not being able to run POFpro. I mean our software isn't perfect, but we nearly never get any issues from our users on WiredTree (knock on wood) and that's why I keep recommending them.
What I would suggest is get a decent VPS from them (although we've never gotten a ticket even about their smallest VPS, it's wiser to provision for what you think you'll need) and do a fresh install and start from scratch. If there's some data points you need from the old install, just take some screenshots, as migrating the database takes significant man-hours.
The more campaigns and ads you run, the more system resources you'll need, so it's not dependent upon how much traffic you're buying.
Let me know if you have further specific questions.
Thanks,
Tom
It's all good now, they said it was a configuration issue on their end and gave me a few bucks to compensate..
Thanks again, Tom, ever so helpful as usual! :]
