How Much Do STMers Make Per Year? Poll

This thread is as simple as it sounds. I've made a poll to get an idea on what the average STMer makes in a year (profit before tax). This is not a pissing contest, it's completely anonymous so honest answers are appreciated!

Are you surprised about where you stand amongst the poll?

Revenue or profit?

Good question. Has to be profit before taxes.

AM fluctuates a lot. I had to avg out my last 4 years. Nice results so far

Would be interesting to work out the median after we get a few more votes in.

Wow, just checked the results so far and wasn't what I expected at all...

(sounds like an MGID ad eh?!)

looking at the poll results looks like quite a few people are extrapolating current earnings....

as stackman said IM fluctuates alot....would be better to look at an avg over the last 12 months....or more...lotta one hit wonders in this game....

Poll should include an option for those that are losing money haha

10-04-2013 04:45 PM #9 stackman (Administrator)

haha
@redhill You'll only lose money for so long. This is a work hard business, losing $ = gaining knowledge.

Not what I expected either

ya, I thought I was making decent money, major reality check for me here

Well , a lot of people make a lot of money in IM , but also they are the most prone to vote

10-04-2013 10:37 PM #13 stackman (Administrator)

What was everyone expecting to see?

Thought the majority would be over 6 figures for sure

The rough median is $90,000 year. Of 105 voters, 55.5 make $xxx, xxx+. It's interesting to see that nearly the same amount of people who hit $200,000 - $800,000 also hit $1,000,000+.

It seems like once you've hit a certain revenue point, scaling to $1M+ is just repetition of those fundamentals that brought you up to $200k. Pretty inspiring if you ask me

You hit it on the head mate. Only thing there seems to be a ceiling at some point. To breakthrough that ceiling you need to have something really unique, traffic, offer, team, tool etc.

Interesting results indeed. I wonder how much more the 2 million+ big ballers are making

No. Definitely not.

Internet marketing has virtually no barriers to entry. It has significant barriers to scale. Most sharp guys can get to 100K. Getting from 100K to 1mm is hard. Getting from 1mm to 10mm is very hard. Getting from 10mm to 100mm is ... well, let's just say there are very few folks that have managed this, and most of these guys have only managed to do so by, how should I say this ... not really giving a thought about the consumer or the FTC.

Would be awesome to take the same poll of the same people in 6 months - 1 year to see how their STM memberships advance their companies .

Maybe that's a good time to do it again

Mr Green ?

Maybe do it as a yearly thing to see how well this forum has improved as a whole.

Yeah that would be awesome, but it would be super hard tracking down the exact 208 STMers who voted, and getting them to vote again!
