Hey everyone, I have been viewing this forum for almost 2 months now and my daily spent on facebook is about $2k-$3k. I think I should contribute and share some of my thoughts.
Since we are promoting iOS games on Facebook. I would like to know if I am doing right or wrong, and how to improve my spending there.
1st. I normally set up campaign based on the Countries;
2nd. Since our client is relatively large, over 100 Megabytes, I only target Wifi users.
3rd. Normally I target male users only, but if my creative is girlish, I will target girls audience as well.
4th. Keywords for interests. I use game related keywords to narrow down my audience.
5th. Creatives - Normally I will make sure my creative is less than 70K so that users can download it easily.
6th. Audience - Normally 2 million - 5 million
7th. Action - At first i will not set action price. I will let the campaign run and shut down all CTR below 1%, and check the performance of those >1% CTR ads. If CPI is around $4, I won't set action to it; If the action is extremely high, such as $8 or even $12, I will make a cap on Action - For example, it maybe 5, or 4 or even 2.
Here comes the problem: If I don't set the action, CPI could go wild; If i make a cap for action, i won't get enough traffic that I want but the CPI can be low as $1.3.
Normally this kind of campaign can run about 1 week and at first a few days, I can get over 1000+ installs, but gradually I lost leads. How to improve my spendings? I mean i don't want to get my CPI go wild but I also want enough traffic. Guys from facebook told me that if I can make campaigns without keywords, but in that case, CTR will ever surpass 0.5% and then we don't need to think about the CV.
Anyone can give me suggestion to improve my spending and get control of the CPI?
Best regards,
+1, getting similar problem! but my CTR is around 1-3% without any keywords and 2M audiences.
What sort of tracking are you using with your campaigns? In a situation like this I'd probably be looking at the creatives and interests I was targeting, and looking at which of them seemed to be producing the lowest and most stable CPIs, then thinking about what similar creatives I could develop or interests I could target. However, your ability to do this very much depends on how much tracking you have in place.
Are the mobile ads also shown on WEB? I never tested Facebook mobile at all and remember hearing the ads will appear on the same IP if it was once used on an OS.
So if you had an Android once login on your Facebook it'll show you ads again on your computer.
Mobile Ads, we are tracking with MobileAppTracking.com, it's a paid service that I need to pay for a single tracking data, like: clicks, install, purchase.
Ads won't show on web, but shown on the facebook mobile app.
Does the MobileAppTracking app show which ads are giving you the best CPI?
Also, have you tried splitting the campaigns up by interest and tracking which individual interests give you the best CPI?
I'd guess that some of your ads and some of your interests will be giving you far more installs for your buck than others: I'd recommend attempting to narrow down what's working best in each case, and then brainstorming more ads or interests you could target along a similar theme.
Apologies if this advice is a bit basic for you - I figure it's best to start simple and get more complex from there! Let me know if you're already doing this and I can give you more tailored advice!
