Hey Guys,
Its almost a week that I started my casual dating campaigns. All these days I was in red. Which is understandable. Not an issue, at least I'm gathering data and split testing different things. But the most frustrating part is I'm 60% blindly running the campaign. I'm using prosper for the tracking purposes. I set up everything and tracking is working properly, which I never expected
But then working with post back URL gave me hard time. In the beginging I used this postback URL for neverblue campaign http://prosper.mydomain.com/tracking...amount=&subid=[[subid]], as mentioned by caurmen in one of his tutorials, which was quite helpful to set up tracking.
But then one of the fellow forum member suggested that I should use http://prosper.mydomain.com/tracking202/static/gpb.php?amount=&subid={subid}, because neverblue takes it in this format. So I changed that to new format, but still no results. I'm not tracking the sales in prosper, which is kind of blind game.
After lot of thinking and head scratching I could find a potential issue. being technically dumb person, don't have any idea if thats correct reason for non tracking sales in prosper. So here is it. I'm using "Beyond Hosting" VPS. My main domain name is lets say mydomain.com. Then I bought a addon domain which is used for all the campaigns. Note: The main domain isn't being used anywhere in the campaigns but used for postback URL. e.g my campaign url is addondomain.com, whearas my postback url is http://prosper.maindomain.com/tracking202/static/gpb.php?amount=&subid={subid}. Do you think that could be the potential issue. If not, what could be the possible cause for non tracking the sales in prosper. Otherwise prosper is tracking the visits and impressions etc. perfectly fine.
Secondly, in Prosper I even can't see which sites the traffic is coming from. Is there any way to determine as to which sites is bringing me the most conversions. What else can be tracked through prosper for more visibility and wiser decisions.
Thirdly, I wanted to use geo targeted script mentioned by Caurmen here in his post http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...ion-Here-s-One!, alongwith the LP rotator script and the offer rotating. Is it safe to use all these scripts simultenously. Don't their code interfear with each others coding? More technical details would be ighly appreciated.
Fourthly, How many banners, offers and LPs are optimal to tect for a campaign at a time?
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks

Hmm - have you talked to your affiliate manager about this? The Neverblue AMs are usually very good - they should be able to help you narrow down your problem and solve it.
What traffic source are you using? That'll affect how easy it is to get referrer data.
Geo-targeted script: It won't interfere with other things provided your postback is set OK. It's specifically designed to get its ass out of the way and not cause problems
Banners, offers and LPs: I'd recommend 10-20 banners (depending on your budget), 2-3 LPs and 2-3 offers, where "offer" can either be different offers or the same offer on different networks.
Hope that helps - let me know if you're still having problems after this. We'll get you up and running!
hey caurmen,
Thanks man...whenever I need an answer you are always there.
The traffic source I'm using is TrafficForce, which I'm happy with so far. The only issue is they don't provide tracking pixels or anything like that. Or may be I don't know if they do have one.
What variable do you drill down to when tracking your adult/casual dating campaigns? I'm tracking performance of banners, the sites in the traffic source and LPs. Can we track more those variables to drill down futher?
One thing which I never tested is the position of banners. I have an impression that if I bid for footer spots, I'll burn my budget. How is the performance of footer positions from click thru and conersion rate point of view?
Do you use a different strategy for the weekend traffic than weekday's?
Different view points of big guys on STM would be much appreciated. I know its weekend and everyone's busy with their campaigns. Good luck guys for your weekend traffic
Thanks

Hmm. That postback URL looks right to me. Did you follow the Neverblue postback setup guide at http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...l=1#post109299 ? I'm wondering if it's a placement issue.
Variables: Getting your conversion tracking working is key to having the right variables. Until it's tracking I'd recommend manually uploading your converting subids (just copy them from Neverblue and paste them into Prosper under "update") - that way, you can track CVR and EPC for your banners and your LPs, which are really the key metrics.
Also, be sure you know what the key differences are between your LPs in particular, so you know what you're testing against what. It's easy to get confused.
thanks Caurmen. I think I figured out the problem. But not sure as I've yet to see the traffic figures after this change. The problem I think was in variables. The variable for subid I was taking in tracking URL and affiliate link URL was Subid2={subid}, where as in Postback URL it was subid={subid}. Would that be an issue?
You rightly said, one has to know what you are split testing and what you are tracking. Thanks for the advice.
Hey Jesper. Thanks man...I'll be posting the links.
Caurmen: Thanks for your insight.
Because my next batch of banners aren't ready yet, the campaign is still paused.
