I hope this wasn't an STMers ad...

"Facebook removes dating ad featuring photo of a dead girl."

Oh, man. HER? That's just wrong.

I'd like to think it was an honest mistake, but man...not kosher.

He probably just googled "cute girls from canada" or something and the photo was obviously ranking because of all the news articles on her. Can't imagine how much the aff is shitting his pants right now. Also it seems like FB is outsourcing ad approvals...

I posted in a thread here about that too, it hit the CBC yesterday and again today. Here are the two news articles

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-s...g-ad-1.1858376

http://www.cbc.ca/news/rehtaeh-parso...859585?cmp=rss

Yet it is perfectly acceptable for the CBC to spam her picture all over the place to get clicks.

the media sensationalizing something that obviously was just coincidence / bad luck on the affiliate's part shows much poorer taste and is more reprehensible than anything the affiliate did. Did the affiliate have a clue whose image he was using? No. Was he a dumbass for not reverse image searching the image? Absolutely. I always exhaustively reverse image search or use stock photos for anything that's going to have wide spread exposure, i.e., broad US targeting on facebook.

I really do hate the media and people in general for sensationalizing stuff though, as they're just drumming up bs hype to make more money themselves (pretty sure them plastering her image all over their sites / headlines is not going to help the family feel better, just going to make them relive the pain even more every time they see it). It's the same deal with the pof soldier case, no one was trying to cause the family grief at all, ya it's terrible, but don't pretend anyone was trying to specifically cause these family's grief.

Click and drag the picture you want to reverse search and drop it into Google Image search bar
