Some people doing mobile marketing say that it's best to focus on only one traffic source and keep working on it until it works and only then scale to other traffic sources. Other people believe that it's better to test several traffic sources at once because they all perform differently and consequently, one traffic source can bring 0 leads while another one will make positive ROI. What do you think is the best approach to testing new mobile offers, especially with low payouts and for countries with less volume?
Well, there are 2 approaches you can take:
Static vertical/offers & Flexible on traffic sources
OR
Static Traffic Source & Flexible on vertical/offers
I personally like to master a traffic source first...I simply feel there is more to learn, and you have to start from scratch with each source. You need to understand bidding nuances, traffic sources, audience demographics, etc etc. It is quicker and easier to test 5 offers and verticals with $500 on 1 traffic source than testing 1 offer with $100 each on 5 different traffic sources.
I always prefer sticking to a single traffic source unless I'm working with an offer that's really niche and doesn't apply to most broad-scoped traffic sources.
A really odd example of that may be LASIK Eye Surgery lead generation.
Thank you guys. What if I'm promoting an offer for a country which doesn't have a lot of volume (like 500-1000 clicks a day) and I can only get some serious volume with two traffic sources? Would you still first optimize it on one traffic source and then try it with other traffic sources?
Yeah in that case I would get it to an acceptable ROI on your primary source and then port it over and see how it does. Don't run optimizations for two different sources simultaneously unless you have a lot of experience / budget / great tracking.
I think Green posted about this previously. Have a go to traffic source or two for testing. Places you know have volume (thus data), easy setups, and variables that you can control.
@allthegold - thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I'll stick with one traffic source then and try to make it profitable there.
@ratalliance - I have two such traffic sources but if I have to stick to one I'll stick to the one which already converted for this offer.
