Intl Adult: 0 to Profitable (12)
Just started my first intl adult campaign. I'm going to keep this journal for as long as it takes for me to start doing well in teh adult space. I'm running a dating offer on Traffic Junky in a Nordic country. So far, I split tested two landing pages that I ripped and changed the colors, pics and angles. One of them got both of the 2 conversions of the conversions I got today from 2 banners even though the ctr was dead even between the two. Statistical significance? I cut the less performing one and will run the banners through the better performing one for a day.
So far I'm running at about -50% ROI. I am bidding at the top spot right now for the country I'm in and getting a decent amount of traffic. I'm running on the video A space on youporn.
That thread posted earlier about people needing to innovate was a kick in the ass. I'm going to try and get a little more creative with my creatives and angles. I've got some very basic html and photoshop skills at this point but I'm going to learn to make some more compelling stuff that hasn't been seen before. I'll stick out this first campaign because it looks like it has some potential at this point. I'll report back with the results.

You definitely need to run to more than 2 conversions to see statistical significance! I'd recommend more like 20 at absolute minimum, although I'm going to go into more detail on this topic in the Step By Step Guide soon.
Innovating - good idea. You're already testing stuff that works for other people - now start altering it and trying new stuff until it works for you!
Thanks man. I've been running this lander only today and it is pretty close to break even at 80 spend and 60 revenue. I'm getting pretty consistent conversions, should I still run the split test for the other lander?
Yes you should keep split testing your banners and landing to improve your results, but your roi% looks good for a start ! Climb the volume

So far, I'm at 75 revenue and about 100 spend. I'm getting good click throughs on my banners between .1 and .6% percent but only a couple are converting at 1-2% each. I'm making a split test on my current lander, one of the current one and one of a different version with my own copy. I'm going to focus on better banner angles with new themes, use my converting pics on these, throw some fresh ones in as well, and keep working on getting my lander conversion rate up. While I finish making the new banners and uploading them, I paused all but the banners that have been converting at 1-2 percent over the last day an a half. Hopefully I will stay at near breakeven or even get into the green a little today while I finish making the new stuff.
For these kind of campaigns banners will push it to the green.
Make sure you don't focus on banner CTR alone but what's most important the EPCs you get for each.
There are a lot of "clickbait" banners that get people to click but not convert.
Also , are you split testing offers? That's very important in the adult space.
I haven't split tested offers yet. Yea I see what you're saying about the banners, I'll keep that in mind

Alright, yesterday my conversions slowed down a bit from running just the 5 converting ads and I am down to about 150 spend and 108 revenue. It could be just that day of the week was slow but probably it's just the angles/themes are played out? I could spend some more to see how these perform over the weekend but seeing as how the whole point is to make money, I might as well start testing my own themes and angles now since that's seems to be the thing that will really bring me into the green. I think I got some decent data about what kind of pics work and how important it is to come with fresh creatives. I'm probably just picking up other affiliate's sloppy seconds with these banners and need to come with my own stuff.
I'm going to use and expand on the converting pics and add them to my new themes. Also, I am doing a split of my landing page with slightly different rules copy. I changed the headline and tried to expand on the scarcity and sense of being exclusive etc like I read in Finch's rules lander guide. Not all of the click throughs to the offer page are converting even though some are. There is a small discrepancy between the whole desperate milfs story and the offer page. It has converted decently enough so far so I am going to just try to make some better banners like bbrock said before I change anything else. I'm a bit hesitant to try different offers, the payouts on this offer are way higher than other ones for this country. My themes are ready, just waiting on my fiver translations to come back. I'm pausing the campaign until my new banners can go up. Half of my themes blend into the website and half of them stand out with bright colors. Excited to see what kind of data I get back.
Edit: I decided to run the ads while I wait. I killed the one ads that was click bait that I didn't notice before and let them run couple of hours ago. I'm starting to make back my adspend, should be in the green by tomorrow if things stay the same
Given how close you are to profitability, I'd definitely keep testing this one a bit more. Looking forward to hearing how things develop!
