Totally New to CPI on Mobile, I need some advice

I sent 1300 clicks through my affiliate link toward this game

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....ifree.efun.en

As requested i sent Android users from Indonesia.
It should convert after they install the app and run it for the first time.

But i got 0 conversions.
Do you think something is wrong or i should expect this kind of conversion rate for asian android traffic ?

depends on the traffic source.. and what devices you have allowed. if you used buzz city, you could well have gotten a bunch of shitty blackberry traffic if you didnt exclude it

I'm assuming this, but I don't think something is wrong. Asian traffic is super cheap, and typically hard to convert.

I'm not sure how you are promoting it, but you have do to more than just slap a direct link campaign up using advertisers creatives.

I'm doing this but i'm not aiming to be profitable immediately, in fact i'm paying 3cent a click on Inmobi; I thought direct linking a thousand clicks could be a way to find out if a $0.80 CPI offer has any chance.. ?

Green, I see networks like MobPartner have a tonne of juicy looking games that look like potential winners, with lots of available countries. However, they typically just supply stock creatives that are often questionable and tend to convert pretty poorly with a direct linked approach – which can be surprising (I'd totally download free game apps with pretty art all the time).

How do you approach these? Would you run stock banners with only games the network says are doing well? Or push for being able to use your own approved banners and then take chances on other games? Mobile gaming is definitely one of my future areas of focus but there is often a smorgasbord of choice with less transparency than desired.

Over how many days was this done? CPI conversions sometime come in next day up to a few days after. If you are using inmobi get the pubid token enabled so you can track them.

@Dario i dont think the way you did it is necessarily wrong.

I quite often do quick campaign test on mobile by direct linking, but i use my owner banners.

Here's what to do.
1. Double check with your AM the offer is good/converting
2. Make your own banners, try 3 angles and 3 banners for each angle (total of 9)
3. Run the traffic again and see what you come up with. $.80 CPI x10 x9 banners = $8x9. So spent $72 for this test. See your results.
... if anything bites at -50%+ then try it with a lander
4. Build more banners/landing page around the winning angles or try 3 more new angles direct linking

Also, make sure the campaign doesn't need device ids (IDFA/IMEI, etc) in order to track.

- Are you tracking anything?

- $0.80 CPI for Indonesia is almost 4 times as I usually get for anything in Indonesia so I figure there's a catch. (For example: offers for geo Netherlands often pay $15 - $20 because it's hard to convert them in The Netherlands due to all kinda legal stuff.)

-File size = 43.4M

^^ that there might be your catch. I'm personally very familiar with internet connections in Indonesia. Straight up torture... and I'm not even talking about mobile internet... AND not even about mobile internet in more rural areas

About IDFA and fingerprints can you or anyone else explain how this works? Let's say we have the following:

In-app traffic from inmobi > tracker like iMobitrax on own domain > offer from Mobpartner

How should this be setup, is it even possible to track properly when an IDFA is required?

ya this could be the exact reason....its a huge file for a Indo 3g connection....having lived there for a while...I can tell you that even on the fastest connections its gonna take a while for that to download...and often downloads just kinda get stuck.....

Have you guys ever promoted Android apps that offer installation outside google play ?

I read "Users are NOT requested to download on the Google Play, it can be downloaded independently"

I've tested the offer and it directly sends to my phone a .apk file instead of loading a google play page.
Isn't this seen as a security issue hence blocked on 99% of Android devices ?

40Mb is NOT the problem. That is fairly normal for most games. Anything over 100MB is generally considered "large"

Clicks does not entitle you to conversions. Its fairly common to see 0 installs for niche games. Card games are very "niche" and I suggest you look for more targeted traffic.

^^ Yep size usually isn't an issue (thats what she said). A lot of users have LTE these days which is proven faster then most home WIFI!

Well, i'm not so sure. If i wanted to play games, i'd just go out and buy 12 dvds full with games for $10 instead of trying to download one on my phone. Or order the dvds online and either have it sent over or download them to desktop.

There is quite some business going on on facebook for example (i'm not into facebook but 150k likes sounds like a lot to me)

I believe the problem that polarbacon and i mentioned is a real one and sellers of game collections on dvd are promoting their merchandise with lines such as "tired of downloading?" and "stop wasting your time with downloading!".

Similar things are happening when it comes to PC software. There are shops in malls that exist only because they sell pirated software for cheap. You can also download pirated software yourself ofcourse but for most indonesians it's just a lot faster and simple to get it on disc.

I think there are a few indonesian members on this forum. They might be able to share some insights.

Device IDs are only accessible by apps so if a traffic source is all app traffic and their SDK supports it, you'll have access to unique IDs. You might also be able to separate out traffic with accessible Device IDs from traffic that doesn't have it. In my experience though, you'll get what you get and XX% (usually 50-90%) will properly pass the Device ID you're looking for. Use the traffic source's macro to save it as a subid and make sure links are formatted properly to pass it into the 3rd party tracking platform that requires it (hasoffers, ad-x, kochava, etc). Best case scenario the third party tracker will fall back to fingerprint tracking if the Device ID isn't passed.

Do you mean AdMob? Are there any other ad networks that provide app traffic, that you have seen to be reliable/ not scammy?
