Hey guys,
I just saw this on Reddit and I thought you'd love it.
http://blog.eat24hours.com/how-to-ad...-porn-website/
Enjoy!
Awesome write up! I love the creativity they used. It would been fun making that campaign. However I found it weird that they seemed to have documented everything in such detail apart from conversion stats. It makes me wonder why they skipped over it. They obviously did benefit from use this case study as a promotional tool though.
I left this comment there:
"Very unique case study obviously a lot of time and effort had gone into it! It's great you should all the creatives and stats about porn etc. However it's a shame you didn't really show any hard stats to do with conversions. I would be very curious to see those, aren't they the most important of all?"
Fantastic case study! Thanks for sharing
Damn when I read the thread title the first image that popped into my head was some fat pathetic neckbeard beating off and stuffing his face with pizza.
I applaud their creativity and them having the balls to associate their brand name with porn which still caries a huge social stigma with it. If more legit business pick up on this it's probably going to be even more difficult for the lone affiliate to turn a profit on TJ
Awesome article! Great share
lol @ "monkey not permitted"
@allthegold thanks for sharing it! I'm wondering what other "unusual" niches can work there...
It's definitively a great case study , but I suspect turning a positive ROI wasn't the real objective.
They wanted to go viral and get tons of visibility. They achieved it , but if it wasn't for that , not sure if the campaign was worth it.
Yeah I believe that to. I know it's all for a laugh. I guest I don't like they are trying to pass it off as a profitable performance marketing campaign. They show all these beautiful looking info graphics, trying to teach people how to advertise on porn, but in the end the campaign could of been a flop. It's their article about their campaign that put them into the green.
if they would have been profitable on these sites
they would scale and keep their ads running... why pause stop a campaign when it's profitable?
It's rather a clever two-part campaign.
Do a test of ads on adult sites.
If that works, keep doing it.
If not, write it up. Everyone links to it (even in 2013, an article with business content plus the word "porn" is usually a winner), and you get a whole lot of exposure that way.
This is so well written. I was giggling like a school girl the entire time.
It's so well written that it makes me think that the article was the main reason for that advertising campaign.
We all know that advertising on porn sites is generally cheaper than search or social and they emphasized it throughout the article. The fact that they're avoiding the ROI question seems like it wasn't THAT profitable.
If you think about it.. the adult traffic picks up the market that isn't exactly in the right mindset for food (or monkeys).
BUT! The people that read their article about the marketing campaign is their target market. Perhaps their original target market was business people and the working class.
