Hey everyone,
I thought is was time for a follow along.
So just to give you a bit of background Im not a newbie, Ive been in AM in one way or another since 2008, in that time I've not done that bad but I've not hit the big time yet.
* I have built and sold a network of Adsense sites,
* Ive had almost a full year on POF back in 2011 where it was my sole income
* I worked for an Adwords Agency for 12 months
* and right now I run my own Adwords consultants where I manage 21 Adwords accounts for offline business clients.
So why do a follow along?
Well the truth is despite having quite a secure and reasonable income from clients, its just no where as near as sexy as AM and I doubt it has the chance of seeing me hit $xx,xxx/days
Also the truth is despite doing ok on POF with reasonably consistant modest income, back in the day, I still never hit a big campaign my best profit day on POF was around $230ish (Sunday) and I always struggled to keep this consistant I was usually more consistantly around $50-$150/day and to maintain this level I was putting in a lot of work.
So far this year I have not done any AM before August where on the 5th I decided I would try my hand at some Adult dating.
Up to now I have just been testing and learning the new platform I chose (TraffiJunky) and its gone ok, here are my stats from 05/08/2013 -(today) 09/09/2013
Spend: $3,591.93
Revenue: $4,311.35
Profit: $719.42
ROI: 20%
I also persuaded them to match my initial $200 deposit so Im actually up $919.42 which Im really happy with so far.
Anyway this was my test phase and Im quite happy but my main problem is scaling I get complacent and I also find it very difficult to maintain consistant profits, these campaigns are all in English speaking countries and it is very competative hence my campaigns having low margins and also I assume the reason my banners are decaying so fast.
So heres my plan I intend to stick with these original campaigns, but I am also wanting to look at international and Adult mobile.
Basiaclly I need help getting to the next level, I really want to reach some $x,xxx profit days and I have a goal to save £20,000GBP which I need for a new house which I am interested in.
Any tips hints and guidance is welcome, Im ready to really turn things up and am hoping this thread will serve as some sort of motivation and keep me accountable
Regards Carl
Sounds like you have some experience under your belt at least.
Maybe you could take a look at your original campaigns and possibly see a trend of what's working?
Looking forward to your posts
I am also looking forward to your posts. I am also struggling getting some positive ROI on Facebook. A tip of mine (for what it's worth): try to be as unique as possible. As you said, you have a lot of competitors. If you find a way to distinguish yourself from them, you will be more likely to get profitable on the long term..
Hey, looks like a great thread! Waiting with bated breath to hear more.
I know what you mean about AM - apart from anything else, it's just more fun than conventional client-based stuff
Ok everyone so here's is my Day 1 update.
I have basically taken what I learnt from my first month testing and am going to try and build on that.
I have 2 campaigns these are both in different english speaking countries and are currently on the same placement, so my goal is to get these to a point where I have a decent margin and then start trying to scale it. So here goes:
Campaign 1 - Placement 1
Spend: $106.52
Revenue: $102.00
Profit/Loss: $4.52
ROI: -4%
Campaign 2 - Placement 1
Spend: $18.22
Revenue: $28.60
Profit/Loss: $10.38
ROI: 57%
So far not bad I think, obviously campaign 1 needs some work, but campaign 2 looks pretty sweet so far
I also had a little spare time last night so just for shits and giggles I started a small campaign on POF with $48 I had left in my account from a while back, so here's what happened
POF Campaign
Spend: $2.13
Revenue: $7.50
Profit/Loss: $5.37
ROI: 252%
This last one was just for fun and I doubt I could get it very big on POF (maybe FB if it keeps up) but I cant not be happy with a 252% ROI
So thats day one not too shabby my main focus for now is on improving campaigns 1&2 and then scaling them up, this is where I feel like I may need some help. Here's what Im thinking, I could scale in a few ways:
1. Stick with the same offers, angles ets and target new placements
2. I could just try and dominate this placement accross lots of countries
3. Or both,
This is where my inexperience kicks in and I would love to know what some of the more experienced guys on here would do.
Regards Carl
I'd recommend trying both - look for similar placements in the same country and at the same time test the campaigns in new countries. If it's working in English, definitely worth getting it translated and testing it in non-English countries too.
Make sure you've optimised and reached statistical significance on your campaigns first, of course - no sense scaling a campaign that turns out not to be profitable!
