Until now I've only used the Optimized CPM for FB ads, but yesterday I read a post by stackman that was saying to prefer CPC to CPM with FB ads.
He was saying that an ad with CPM get half of the CTR of the same ad with CPC.
Because of this I decided to try CPC with my best ads. My old ads (with CPM) are getting higher CTR and lower cost per click than new ads (with CPC).
Stackman's post is about 1 year old, so I was wondering if something have changed recently.
Do you believe is it better to run your FB ads with Optimized CPM or with CPC?
Thanks for your help!
Cpc.
CPC everyday of the week. It gives you exact conversion data.
I think in the post you are referring to, Stackman is referring to just plain old CPM, not optimized CPM. I would test both and just pick whichever gives you better results.
@mscimitar Thank you for the advice. As my tests go on, I'm getting more evidence that my ads with CPC are getting worse CTR and higher costs than my ads with CPM.
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong with CPC...
CPM and oCPM can work better in particular cases, not that I have ever observed this, but FB is horrid when it comes to the current state of ad CTRs and CPC mechanics, who knows what's going on sometimes. If CPM works better for a particular campaign for whatever reason, roll with it.
@zeno Thank you for the advice!
I like to get the LINK CLICK COSTS and the only way to do so (I think) is optimized CPM ......
i also find that with cpc my ad barely gets an impresion even when i bid above the sugested bid price renge. Any idea about this
Suggested CPC can be pretty much useless, if you're not getting impressions it's generally because your bid isn't high enough and that's all there is to it.
oh, thanka
The delivery with CPC can be hit or miss I find and so can the starting CTR. Also, if the market pricing adjusts and your bidding below it with CPC, you'll stop getting traffic (may be a good or bad thing).
I've found ads to get stronger delivery with oCPM but haven't really split it against CPC recently to see how it impacts CTR or conversion. I couldn't see it being too different for the right bar atleast. May have a bigger impact on newsfeed.
