5 years of success (9)

5 years of success

Just thought I'd post here for some motivation for others. I actually just recently joined this forum, but has been into AM for almost 5 years now. It's been a pretty crazy ride.

I've been running exclusively dating offers since I started, mainly buying traffic from Facebook. I still remember the days when you can get dirt-cheap clicks running dating on FB without doing much optimization, and having 100%+ ROI. Must be honest, I'm still mad at myself for not milking it back then, but I was still new in AM and didn't really know what I was doing.

Since then I've run hundreds of offers, had many FB accounts banned, and put many, many nights into it, but it's been totally worth it.

I've been averaging around $250 per day for literally years now. Yeah it's not that much, but I have had many $1000+ days and I'm still trying to scale to reach those levels consistently. I guess I have been in a comfort zone for way too long, so I haven't been trying that hard. With the motivation from these forums and seeing what you other people are achieving I'm aiming to reach that point by the end of the year. Can't see why I can't do it.

So to anyone who thinks AM cannot be a consistent source of income: myth busted! You just need to think ahead and have some alternative traffic sources/offers in place in order to smooth out the bumps.

P.S. When I met my wife I was also just having my first success with AM, and she was struggling with having enough money for rent, etc, so I helped her set up an offer. I just gave her the link, showed her how to set up Facebook ads and that's it. She went crazy with it, and a month later she was making $100 per month profit, after which she scaled to $500 per month (her ROI was crazy). She never scaled beyond that and her FB account got banned about a year later, but that offer helped her out through a very tough time. The kicker is that she's a teacher and hasn't every coded a line or promoted anything online before that. In my opinion she was very lucky to strike gold on her first try, but even if you aren't lucky at first, just remember: the harder you work, the luckier you get

Could you offer any insight into working around or reversing bans? I jumped in with a hiss and a roar but having my personal account paused by fb has taken a lot of the steam out of me.

Well I have only been able to reverse a ban once (submitted proof of ID, etc), but most of the time I just accept it as permanent. Whenever I have a FB account up and running well I use a new credit card or PayPal account to set up a brand-new backup account, which I then populate with 100% legit and safe offers, which are unique to that account. I then slowly (over a matter of months) build the "trust" for that account, before starting to run more risky ads. It takes patience and money (the offers I normally run like this make a loss), but I see it as a long-term investment. This way I always have an account or two to fall back on when FB bans my primary account.

I do take some precautions (different 3G internet connection, different browser for each account) so that FB can't really link the accounts.

True story! I've had some big campaigns last nearly a year. I know some guys who have been running the same campaigns for years.

Yeah my approach has been to take things easy, to slowly scale up my accounts (perhaps too slowly though). It seems this way Facebook doesn't take much notice when I eventually start running risky ads/landers.

awesome advice. I'll follow through with the whole proof route as I see today that although I don't have access to the ad manager, my ads are still receiving clicks. geez...
<hijack over>

Great story, man - thanks for sharing.

It's always great to hear about one of the "quiet successes" out there.
