How do you set realistic goals in affiliate marketing (POF)?

Setting goals of profit/revenue to hit seems kinda misguided as it's not something which is fully within your control. Surely someone has thought of a better way to set their goals?

I set my goals based on output, not results. eg:

- Do 8 hours work per day for the next month
- Put up 3 campaigns per day
- Go to the gym 3x per week

Something measurable, with an end-date, which all the factors is under my control.

To come up with the goals, I figure out an aim (I want to make xxx per day) and then what actions I need to take to achieve that. The aim is there to keep in my mind to keep myself motivated, but if I don't achieve it, it's not important. What's important is the action taken towards it.

I believe that if you ensure you take consistent action - the results you want will follow.

Yeah, you can't guarantee a level of income, but you can certainly set goals that lend themselves to achieving it.

It's sort of like reverse engineering.

If your aim is to make $1000/day, try and visualise what your day would look like if that was happening now. What campaigns would you be working on? What traffic sources? How would you work with your data? How many campaigns would you crank out daily?

Those are your goals. To act more like a successful affiliate.

If you focus on modelling what works (and what works is all around you), the money should follow.
