Landing Page Newb Questionsssss

Im confused about the landing page thing.. sorry if it sounds stupid. Im setting up to make a "follow along thread & had some quest"

I was using the POF spy tool & just checking whats out there

I set the time frame for the last 30 days & filtered "days seen" to the highest value

1st question: why is the only about 6 different "profile" categories?
(are they the most popular ones?)

2nd question: Not every ad is going to a LP? and there usually Zoosk offers
Is that because the company is advertising it? so they just send it direct?

3rd question: The Landers that I seen just had simple "agree" buttons
or just a small simple "yes & no" steps.
Is that how it has to be? just a small step to get the customer committed? So when he gets to the form he will more likely fill it out?

4th quest: why are they all using nullrefer.com ? all of the ads had that when you clicked on them. I seen that it is a way to cloak your link. But why? I thought it wasnt good to do that

sorry for the newb stuff man but thats what the newbie section is for right?

I'll have a go for you but from my also new, limited knowledge:

1) Not sure exactly why these 6 demographics were chosen myself but they hit a middle value no doubt in a lot of target ranges. I would like to see more to incorporate spying within other popular countries but I think it's quite difficult to setup POF accounts for this purpose. Would love to hear more on this myself from one of the senior members.

2) It could be the company but more than likely the affiliate has chosen to direct link their offer instead.

3) A Landing Page is a building block between the advertisement and the signup page. You might be targeting an angle within a niche which is not immediately obvious if you visited a site directly. The LP bridges that gap and reassures the reader that they're in the right place.

4) The NullRefer will have been put in place by the STM team to avoid detection by affiliates. These are real in situ ads and it wouldn't be a good idea for the affiliate to see that they're getting click throughs on their ads from a spy tool. If you saw this in the real world (on POF) then there would be no NullRefer.
