Didn't have much time today unfortunately, but here is the basic setup:
My niche: As per the rules: iPad
Traffic source: Lead impact
Budget: $200
My setup: I'm going to try a bit of a different thing here, I'm going to target only a few urls and make super targeted landing pages. Let's see how that works out!
Tracking: Prosper
Networks: EWA, PeerFly
Tools: Photoshop, affexpert tools, text editor
)
06/20/11: Almost finished the first lander, might or might not get to start it today
That's what I'm talking about!
ok, turns out that although my first target url is apparently alexa rank 582, I'm hardly getting any views. Maybe visitors of that site don't have the LI toolbar, maybe I'm secretly being outbid, not really sure. Even so, my CTR is really, really awful: out of the 100 views I managed to get, only 1 click. I'm going to make some more landers for different targets tonight, hopefully they'll give me some more views!
How did you make prosper work for ppv? I tried a campaign yesterday and I couldn't get any referer or keyword stats
I like your sleeves
Keep it up
Ok, tried a new approach today: a more general lp with a specific angle with about 6 targets. Unfortunately these also seem to be duds since I'm not getting a lot of views. Pretty good CTR though, although the numbers are low (~10% CTR, 55 views). No conversions yet. I think I'm going to set all the targets to autobid on lead impact, just to see if I'm being outbid or there's just no volume here.
Ok, reporting time!
First, the stats:

As you can see, I have some profitable targets! Unfortunately, these are the low traffic ones, the big traffic one is not doing so well. With a dismal CTR of 1.38% I will cut that one out.
Next step is to look for more targets and test some more lp's. Onwards!
Congrats on making progress. Having low-volume targets that convert well isn't a bad thing, that's great. High volume targets that convert for crap will sink your budget faster than anything else. But if you can find a ton of low-volume targets that convert well, you'll have a good return anyway. Keep at it!
Looking good, z6 has got it down, sometimes for campaigns with lower payout offers you want longtail URLs becuase those will bring you in continuous sales over a lead period of time, just need to spend some decent time testing to see which longtails will convert for the longrun.
A lack of updates while I was moving back to the Netherlands after a 6 month stay in NYC (love that city!). Due to all the stuff I had to take care of I didn't get too much done, but here are the stats for the last 4 days (not including today):

I added some more urls/targets but they're not getting a lot of views or they're not profitable, so I might throw those out again.
My plans for the next couple of days (once I've settled down into my day job here and get rid of that stupid jet-lag
) are to try to find more targets but more importantly:
- split test different landing pages on the performing targets
- try new angles/landing pages on the non-performing targets (including one relatively high volume that wasn't converting/getting clicks at all)
I'm probably going to run a separate campaign with Lead Impact for the second point, so I can set a separate budget for that one.
I must admit that I'm a bit 'scared' of ruining my nice green numbers, but hey: testing is what got me there in the first place!
Another little update: I managed to find a couple of more profitable targets. None of them are high volume, but still.. it all adds up, now between $4 and $8 in the green per day. I will split my campaign in two and try to make the high volume, non converting targets (that I threw out before) work. In addition I will be split testing some more landing pages, although I feel the current one is already performing quite well. I've also begun rotating offers (different networks and email vs short form submit), but it's a bit of a pain to see which one is performing best using prosper.. ctrtard.com has some tips, but haven't gotten around implementing those.
Most important for me is seeing that a campaign can actually be profitable! This might sound silly, but until I saw it myself, I somehow wasn't 100% convinced that this could work
The stats for the last couple of days:

Man that is awesome to see... someone who is actually making money with this contest.
Keep up the good Posts.
Well, the 14 days have come to an end. Earnings have been erratic, the last day ended in the red (-$1.99) but overall I made a whopping.. <drumroll> .. $16.60 (on a $55.77 spend)! Haha, well, it's better than nothing and certainly better than losing money. The three most important things I learned are:
- It's possible to be profitable!
- Targeted approaches/angles can work quite well
- Although the above is true, ultimately the low volume on my targets prevented me from making any significant cash. It also wasn't very scalable since the angle I took has a limited number of targets. Next time I will make sure that if I'm profitable, I WILL be able to scale.
Since I have a feeling day/time-of-day might be important for this campaign, I'm going to let it run for a while and see if it becomes profitable again, if not I will post specifics and landers etc here. Overall: cool contest!
