Hi fellow Stackers,
I would like to use the conversion tracking provided by multiple traffic sources on the same offer. In my specific case, I am running traffic from TJ and Exo.
Both traffic sources provide you with an image pixel, but how do I set it up so it only fires when traffic is sent from a specific CPV Lab campaign / Traffic Source? Is that even possible?
The affiliate network I am running the offer on uses Cake, for tracking I am using CPV Lab.
So, let me just rephrase this to check I've got what you want to do:
You're running traffic from TJ and Exo. You want to track conversions with their pixels, but only for some of the campaigns you're running though them, not all.
The offers you're using for those campaigns are also offers you're using on other campaigns that have TJ or Exo as a traffic source, and you don't want to track those conversions with the TJ/Exo pixels.
For example: you are running traffic to offer A through campaigns B, C and D. You want to track conversions on campaign B through TJ and Exo, but not campaigns C or D.
Is that approximately correct?
That's basically it, but let me rephrase in a more structured way so we are definitely on the same page
- Offer A
- Traffic Source A, Traffic Source B
- Pixel from source A, Pixel from source B
- When a conversion occurs on Traffic Source A, only pixel A should fire
- When a conversion occurs on Traffic Source B, only pixel B should fire
- Can I even add 2 separate image pixels in Cake?
- If so, wouldn't they both fire each time a conversion occurs and basically register twice the conversions that actually occured?
I noticed the following section in the CPV Lab campaign setup which I have never used, maybe I can set it up through that?

I must admit I've never set something like this up, but I'm reasonably sure that the CPVLab box there is what you're looking for.
Alternatively (and this might be more reliable) you could ask your AM to set you up a second offer ID for the offer, and then use one for TJ and one for Exo.
First thing that might be worth trying, though, is just adding both pixels to the offer and running a small test. The pixels may be smart enough that they won't fire unless the traffic comes from their source anyway.
Ok, I will set up a small test later today that won't completely mess up my stats and let you guys know what I find out.
There is an easy way to do it.
On the affiliate network in cake as you pixel put an html file on your server ( http://domain.com/mypixel.html ).
Paste all the other pixels on that file. As long as they are cookie pixels ( img / js / iframe ) it will work fine.
