all im going to say - it's going to be very interesting to see how airpush, leadbolt, senddroid, others cope with their primary business effectively being shut down. if this is real

08-26-2013 08:55 AM #3 Mr Green (Administrator)

Yeah I saw this too. I'm meeting with airpush this week, should be interesting what they say.

Please report what you are allowed to say.. I'd be interested in that.

^^ Will do.

It goes beyond just the push traffic as well kinda massive sweeping Google bs....

I think one of the key points now is as well is that any ad or content that is displayed in an app that is unallowed in googles TOS....can be removed from the play store...

For example Google effectively blocked gambling of any kind EVEN WHERE ITS LEGAL, and not just apps but even advertising a online casino....

You have to ask whats gonna be next.....my bet is on the fact they start imposing adwords like policys on all apps....very soon

Had a quick chat with Airpush...

They aren't hiding the fact it's a huge setback. However, the current inventory they have will not diminish overnight, consumer has to delete the app. Once saturation kicks in then shit starts getting bad. They are pushing the fact they still have a large distribution channel and will add new ad units. The new policy comes into effect next month.

Damn, there goes one of the biggest mobile sources out there.

08-26-2013 05:22 PM #9 stackman (Administrator)

WOW that's absolutely huge. A whole ad format will be left in the dust

It won't take too long to really notice the drop in traffic if no new handsets are being added daily into the push ad rotation :|

This is what i got from SendDroid today in the Inbox. No words for what concerns advertisers though.

Hello SendDroiders,

Hope all of you are doing well.

We thought it would be helpful if you heard from us and what we're doing in relation to the updated Google Policy.

We'd first ask you to have faith in us as your partner in monetization of your apps. We will not be letting you down. We have all been through similar events before and this is just another one of those times. And just like always, we'll pull through based on our ingenuity, creativity and collective efforts by all of us.

Regarding the Google Policy Update - No action from Google will be taken until the effective date of late September. We suggest that you carry on as usual for the time being. You don't need to make any changes as yet.

We at SendDroid will be discussing our options in the coming few days and will come up with a solution that is best for all of us. We will make sure that all our Developers remain safe with whatever steps we take. Evidence of this would be our actions in the past.

As the discussions are still going, your input will be highly appreciated as well. Should you have any suggestions, please feel free to contact us.

Also, all business will carry on as usual on our end and we will be monetizing your traffic and paying you as we have been.

In the mean time, have a wonderful day and trust us with your traffic as you always have.

Thank You.
SendDroid Team

HUGE blow no doubt. I think they've been expecting it which is why they started rolling out in-app ads a while ago.

If they are going to serve ads in-app only then they are just another ad network.

That's about all they can do.. But they need to lift the game and think up some innovative in app ideas.. or bite the dust.. ish...

Glad I got my earn out from Senddroid Just in time.

08-27-2013 06:21 AM #14 Mr Green (Administrator)

^^ Lol I was thinking about that. Wondering whether I got let off the hook there.

Basically all apps have 30 days to update their apps to disallow push notifications or they get removed is what I have seen. Thats a huge blow.

Yeah I think a lot may have done it already.. ive seen a drop in conversion on a really good campaign I run

That would actually be the worst thing. 600 is a LOT of apps, what kind of apps?

lol... ya its fucking hysterical to see him all nervous and neurotic...

all kinds.

its all android stuff.

free apps.

makes $$ on the ads.

the push stuff is done (only on google's platform)

but there's a BUNCH of other places you can submit your android apps and still use push.

they do interstitial stuff, banners etc. now.

So did he have them made, buy them, or what? You don't just end up with 600 apps in overnight lol. That's mindblowing to me, but then again maybe they're install and forget apps that don't require maintenance and updates.

Are these simple apps that make a little each and it works out in bulk? Really curious to know more as I've been looking to go the route of app development myself.

09-25-2013 01:20 PM #26 dconstrukt (Member)

its called outsourcing...lol

developers can make simple apps in a few days.

2-3 per week

by 52 weeks.

think adsense.

a few $$ per app

x a LOT of apps

do the math. :-)

Yeah I gotcha that's what I was envisioning - mobile equivalent of making adsense sites in bulk. Still a crazy amount though and a lot of work to maintain I'd imagine vs a smaller amount that do more.
