Hi all.
I've been running adult offers for some months now. Mainly dating, and mainly on mobile.
I'd been running UpForIt WAP on Reporo with some great success and ROI. However, the problem with Reporo (unless someone can tell me otherwise) is that you cannot whitelist/blacklist publisher sites. I've found that I get great results with Reporo as long as I hit the right sites.
For example, back in May, I ran a quick $50 test for a US dating offer. Made $80 in a matter of minutes. Great! So, I upped my daily spend to $200, but strangely CTR took a dive and so did conversions. When I checked my stats, I saw that for the first test I'd been hitting a specific site (perfectgirls.net I think), but when I increased budget, it hit lots of junk sites.
Similar experience with this UK offer I've been running, although that did last a few months. Most of my ads were hitting a specific site which was giving great ROI. I was launching new ads, and keeping the ones which hit this certain site. Quality was awesome too. Then, one day, a few months later, traffic just stopped! Increasing bids to 20c didn't do anything. My rep was helpful but couldn't really explain or rectify it.
Anyway, I'm trying to get some traffic to this offer again and thought it would be useful for me to keep myself accountable and hopefully get some advice along the way, by posting this follow-along. I'm taking a break from Reporo for a while, as it was just getting frustrating. Thought I'd try Exoclick, as I've had some success there with mobile and web in the past.
Current set up is as follows:
Offer: UpForIt UK WAP
Source: Exoclick (specifically Xhamster mobile)
Day 1 (yesterday)
Spend: $73.66
Revenue: $89.25
Not a bad start. I ran both 300x250 and 300x100 ad sizes. The larger size beat the smaller size in terms of ROI (actually made a loss on the 300x100 size).
CTRs are ranging from 0.13 - 0.28%. Not sure if this is good or bad on Xhamster. Top bids are around 60c CPM for the 300x100 ads, and around 24c for the 300x250 (seems low, but that's what it says). Estimated impressions for each size are over 1million/day, so I should be able to turn this into a $xxx a day profit campaign.
Day 2 (today)
I've actually paused the 300x100 ads and just going to concentrate on the 300x250 (that size has always performed best for me) for now. Then once I get that stable, I'll move onto the others.
I'm rotating 3 landers and 5 ads at the moment. Daily spend set at $50 for now.
I'll post some stats later when I get some data.
Well, it's been a few hours now, and I've hardly got any traffic. I've raised my bid to 50% over the recommended bid, so we'll see what happens. I've also raised a ticket with their support team.
Just a quick tip , make sure you select Android / IPhones only on EXO so you can keep quality up.
Older phones tend to convert less into sales.
Day 3
I'm obviously doing something wrong here, although never had an issue getting traffic on Exoclick before.
So far today I've managed to spend a life shattering $4.55 bidding on Xhamster UK mobile.
I contacted Exo support yesterday, bemoaning the fact I wasn't getting traffic, even though I was bidding higher than their supposed top bid. Here is their response:
"If you block the web version of a site that has mobile version (e.g, Xhamster.com) you'll also block the possibility of receiving traffic from its mobile version (m.xhamster.com).
Hence, we suggest to filter your stats and write down all the mobile sites from which you received (good) traffic and re-target them in a new campaign to exclusively receive traffic from them.
Xhamster is a highly desired site for many of our advertisers and due to share ratio, advertisers may not see the amount of impressions that they are expecting. Our network allows for a fare share on such premium sites.
Might we suggest that you allot for all mobile devices to raise the possibilities of more impressions. "
My targeting is as follows:
UK
Mobile (iPhone & Android only)
300x250 banners
Ad-zone: XHamster mobile (300x250 mobile bottom)
Available daily impressions: 1.6m
Top CPM bid: $0.23 (for iPhone & Android)
My bid: $0.28
Thing is, I'm not blocking any sites, so the first part of his email doesn't make sense; I'm just specifically targeting Xhamster mobile in the premium sites list. Also I don't want all mobile devices, as I already know my offer converts well on Android / iPhone, but has never converted on BB, Feature, Windows.
My current thinking is that their tool which shows you the top CPM is screwed. When I check top bids for US traffic for XH mobile, it shows $0.80 (iPhone) and $1.34 (Android).
My CTRs are currently not too shabby (around the 0.4% mark).
Next step is to raise the CPM very high to see if I can get some traffic. I'll drop the daily cap to $20 while I test the water.
I recently started testing on Reporo, I have a feeling you can block pub ids, however you need to track them yourself. They don't give you a parameter you can through at the end of your url.
