How many IPs do you have?

I've been wondering over the years whats the benefit of having separate ip addresses for different reasons. Maybe I missed the info train when I started or am too completely stupid to know why, but what's the point of having separate ips?

Is this something normal that affiliates do? I have no fracking clue honestly...

Do you have a separate ip for your tracker, landers, individual domains or do you keep it all on one ip?

feel free to troll or give solid advice or info.

gracias

maybe don't want others to dig more info about where they hosted their LP and tracker, you know you need to keep the door closed all times, too dangerous out there

To prevent the competitor from snooping around your stuff.

For example lets say I am running widespread campaign and my landing page IP is 192.283.29.1. I can reverse the IP and see all the websites hosted on that IP.

Webhosts usually give you multiple IP's in the same c block so the competitor can check 192.283.29.2 and just change the last digit to see what other landing pages / offers you're running.

I kept a lot of my stuff separate in the past: 5+ different dedicated servers, different domain registrars, multiple accounts at different affiliate networks, etc. In the end, it really doesn't matter that much. This takes time away from the more important things in a campaign. Even if someone finds your other landing pages, what are they gonna do with that information? If you're doing decent traffic then your stuff's out there anyways.

the only purpose i can see is if you have a more mainstream marketing agency / service hosted on that ip, you might not want your getafreefuckbuddy.com lp's on the same ip

It doesn't matter as dr_ngo said i tried everything and still my stuff everywhere... it sucks big time specially if you spent 12 hours every single day trying to make this specific angle work and take it to 4 - 5 figures / day and just someone go rip it few minutes...

we all got started ripping though pretty much, 99% of the FB xx,xxx - xxx,xxx threads say "we got our big break when we got spy tools and started making similar ads" (aka copying). Big brands copy as well, look at samsung vs apple. It's part of life. Don't let it stress you out, it just means you're doing something right.

Separate them all!

Keeping on different IPs is what I would call "good practice".

I know a lot of of affiliates that do reverse-ip , get list of domains , plug into spy tools and get as much info as they can where you buy traffic and where you send to.

Keeping sites in different IPs wont' save you if you do volume , but your stuff will last a bit longer at least.

One thing to keep in mind when using separate domains for your tracking/landers is that the extra DNS lookup will slow down load time for the user.

Thanks for the input guys. This is something I haven't done in the past but have put in practice today. Honestly I've learned a ton with the support ticket I put in the webhost today and from the thread. Had a few "A-HA!" moments with server stuff.

Also, for each IP make a new cPanel account and in WHM assign an IP to that account. Then all addon domains within that cpanel account take that IP. It's all trivial to do but like others said, if you're running volume it's not going to stop people connecting dots. You would ideally have different C-class IPs but I'm not sure if many webhosts typically do that.

Also, if using the server/VPS as the nameserver, that links things up nicely as well. May pay to use cloud DNS if concerned.

I have 2 IPs due to the fact that a lot of offers require a secure SSL in order to post a pixel on their thank you page.

This requires a specific IP address. It's good to have all that stuff for tracking purposes.
