My niche: iPhone4 / iPad 2 (Running on Trends) (payout $2)

Budget : 240$ (I prefer to spend $1/24h)
My setup: 2 landers, Poll and survey style
Tracking: CPVlab, what else ;-)
The Networks: Wolfstorm Media
TOOLS: urlKeywordz for scraping, Photoshop for image manipulation and overplay.net for testing
Alright so far I am in loss. I tried to build my landers about the current "Miss America 2011" trend showing on different research sites like google trends, yahoo buzz etc. I did two survey/quiz styled landers and got terrible CTR (both below 1%, holy shit). I targeted mostly news site which is probably the main problem with this campaign. I will now either go with more demographic targets or I will get an new angle, not sure yet. One target eat up most of the budget due to the timezone difference with LI...so I stopped it this morning and give the other targets some more time.
Stats Day 1:
Targets: 109
Cost: $11
Revenue: $2
LP CTR: < 1%
Profit/Loss: 0/$9
ROI: -82%
Yup you need to be hitting a CTR around the teens to give an email submit a chance. News sites way to broad like ya said.
If I were you I would start small and focus on Miss America targets, then get more creative from there. You might want to make a new campaign in LI for each new angle you go for in terms of targets, so one set don't eat up all your budget.
Alright, not sure about going with trends. You have to act quite fast as bids raise up pretty damn fast. With LI it's also more then exhausting as they approve targets once a day and not instantly like TV. I never had any luck on PPV with riding on trends or people as I always ended up targeting news/gossip sites. And for going demographic I don't know enough 
Anyways I will let run this targets (jackass related) one more day to gather some more data. I will keep you posted.
I alllllmost did something jackass related as well, that is a really hot topic right now. I guess a lot of people are jumping on it if you're having to adjust your bids so much. Hope it works out for you.
