new google e-mail ad... under the promotions tab, on top of the new e-mail list.
interesting move google... Haven't heard about this one yet but I'm looking at it right now, will be interesting to buy an ad that instantly goes to the top of the users promotional inbox....

Yeah, I've noticed this too. It looks almost like an email message except for it's highlighted a little bit. It probably gets a lot of accidental clicks that wind up not converting into anything.
As someone who makes a living from email marketing, the legitimate kind, I can tell you the industry is not happy about this move at all. First they prevent our mail from reaching the inbox, and then they insert their sneaky misleading little ads in there. I always urge people to stop using Gmail or Google Apps.
