Quest to 100/day in mobile (32)

08-13-2013 04:54 AM #1 jaime (Member)
Quest for 100/day profit in mobile

A wise once said, when you want to manifest something you should write it down first to solidify your goals. To start off, my goal is to make 100/day profit in mobile, and eventually I want to achieve economic freedom. I have a general idea of how IM works, but I still consider myself a newbie. Now, time to create my first ever campaign.

So far I Have:
1. Created my agency website: www.marketingequilibrium.com
2. Linkedin: [url]http:www.linkedin.com/in/jaimenavarro1
3. Signed up with a couple of affiliate networks.
4. Signed up with many Ad Networks.

I believe I have to have at least a VPS hosting for STM mobile tracker to work, I like the wiredtree 49/month plan.
I am having trouble following the installation guide here on stm because there are some terms that I am not familiar with. Is there a noob friendly guide on how to install the stm mobile tracker?
Feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks stackers!

Looks good! Good work on the first steps. (I've responded to your questions about the STM tracker on your thread about it.)

Can I ask why you've decided to go for mobile? There's definitely a lot of profit out there, but it's more challenging when you're starting off - and more expensive, because there are a lot of variables to test.

08-13-2013 08:15 PM #3 jaime (Member)

Caurmen, I've decided to work in mobile because of its potential when it comes to profit. However, the reason I joined this forum is to get feedback from people like yourself that have already walked the path I've heard POF is newbie friendly, but it seems like everybody is doing it. Where would you recommend getting my feet wet before I jump to mobile? I'm pumped! Can't wait to start.. thanks!

08-14-2013 05:09 PM #4 caurmen (Administrator)

I'd recommend either POF - it IS crowded, but there's a reason for that, which is that it's a great learning ground - or niche adult web campaigns.

In both cases, you'll need a much smaller budget to start seeing success, and they're both a lot easier to get started in. You can also use a standard tracker setup for both of them, which lets you spend more time learning how to run campaigns, and less time learning how to be a system administrator

08-14-2013 11:57 PM #5 jaime (Member)

Thanks for the advice Caurmen, I am going to start off this journey with a POF campaign.

DAY 1
1. I got approved into maxbounty and peerfly. I'm still waiting for neverblue approval, and some other networks.
2. I got Beyond Hosting VPS hosting plus Prosper202 installed and ready!
3. I opened an POF advertiser account, and a regular account to get used to the site (and perhaps find "the one" )

The offer I would like to promote is:
Offer: The Mate 1 Seniors 40+ (US, CA, UK, AU, NZ, IE) (5529)
Network: Peerfly
Payout: $5.00
EPC: $0.11
CR: 2.15%
Type: Lead
Traffic source: POF
Questions:
For simplicity reasons, this time, I would like to direct link it. However, I am lost in campaign creation.
1. What are "subid1,2,3.." for?
2. Is there a noob friendly guide to setup peerfly/prosper202 campaigns, create landing pages, creatives?
3. Since I am not gonna do mobile for now, should a start a new follow along thread?

08-15-2013 04:03 AM #6 bowlcutah (Member)

To hell with simplicity reasons, DON'T direct link Mate on POF. This is coming from a guy who makes a living sending POF traffic to Mate1 offers.
Make/Rip an LP [or two] and do things the right way. You aren't going to have much success direct linking.

I'd recommend mobaff [even for web campaigns] over prosper. It's real easy, you don't have to worry about hosting and they already have POF up as a traffic source.

Read this thread I made last year about POF Advertising [http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...of-Fish-Guide]. Everything still applies.

If you start sending quality traffic to Mate with decent/good volume you'll get a nice payout bump.

08-15-2013 04:26 AM #7 maynzie (Moderator)

Yeah agreed ^

Direct linking is a fast way to see if an offer converts and whether or not you should be spending time on it. After you've seen it convert, get straight into a lander. There are plenty of landers going around, get some inspiration and get it right from the get got hat is going to make you some fantastic money

08-15-2013 03:22 PM #8 caurmen (Administrator)

1) Subids are how you track your traffic. Read the STM Guide To Prosper Campaign Setup - the first section is a detailed explanation of subids.

2) The Prosper Campaign Setup Guide is what you're looking for, I think!

3) No, feel free to carry on with this one! I'll change the name of the thread if you like - let me know if you want to do that.

Thanx for the help guys,
I created the following campaign
Traffic Source: POF
Affiliate Network: Peerfly
Category: Dating
Payout: 5.50$
Name: Professional Singles Over 40
EPC: 0.29
CR: 5.25%
Type: Lead
Tracker: prosper202
So far I got some clicks but no conversions (was expected) considering the learning curve I have to go through.
Questions about tracking:
I'm confused when connecting the three URL links: the offer, traffic source, and tracking properly.
To make it simple, what order should I follow?
What URL goes where?
Thanks again.

Also mate, I would flesh out your agency website. At the moment it looks like it would do more harm for you than good.

08-27-2013 08:02 AM #11 jaime (Member)

@ Mr. Green, Thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely work on that.. I guess my focus has been on creating my first campaign

08-27-2013 08:09 AM #12 Mr Green (Administrator)

As it should!

The STM guide is awesome Caurmen, I think I've the system setup & ready. Time to optimize & hit a winner.

Awesome - let us know how you get on!

...Back to my rat race escapade.
Hi stackers,
After experimenting with dating offers in POF, being exposed to SEO, and other traffic methods, I can say that it feels good to see signs of progress in my learning curve. In the process, I am realizing the potential of IM, and how the info can be a bit overwhelming. So, before I get paralyzed and start jumping from place to place, I have decided to pick one traffic source (MOBILE) and stick to it.

I know you guys have said that mobile is more challenging if I am starting off - and more expensive, but I think if I am going to be spending the next months learning one traffic source, it would be mobile because of it$$ potential.
I have read that the Latin American market is less saturated and the clicks are cheaper.. Blah, blah. If this true, I would like to target this audience, and if necessary put my Spanish to good use. What are your thoughts?

In the meantime, I am planning on testing the following:
Affiliate network: Peerfly
Offer: Mate1 25+iOS mobile
Tracker: STM mobile tracker
Traffic source: Jumptap

All feedback is welcome!

10-02-2013 12:09 PM #16 caurmen (Administrator)

LATAM is generally a pretty good market to explore, particularly if you speak Spanish or Portugese. Lots of volume, generally cheaper clicks, and some good offers.

10-02-2013 12:15 PM #17 Mr Green (Administrator)

It makes sense you are sticking to mate1 and taking advantage of your Spainish language skills. Just make sure you stick to this one mate, and post some data so we can give you quality feedback/advice.

Hi money stackers,
Enough BS on my part, and time to take action. Got some budget and I'm ready to take my first steps on IM, and the mobile platform.
I'm launching the following campaign to start learning the mechanics.

Offer: fourtyplussingles(peerfly)
Ad network: Millennial media
Mob. Tracker: STM mobile tracker (installed)
Total budget: 50$
Daily budget: 15$

I've done some basic targeting on millennial media and have it ready to submit for approval. But before, I'm not sure what the next steps are. I guess it would be to set up the campaign on the stm tracker. Can somebody enlighten me on how to property link the offer-ad network-tracker. I'm just getting familiar with some technical terms. Thanks in advance!!

02-28-2014 05:57 PM #20 jaime (Member)

Ok, this is where I'm at so far:
1. I created a campaign in mMedia, approved and ready to run. (should I do more here, in terms of tracking?)
2. I setup the campaign in prosper202, and copied and pasted the postback URL on peerfly offer.
That's it so far.
What are the next steps?

03-01-2014 04:16 AM #21 zeno (Administrator)

1. Make sure your advert has tracking parameters in the URL so that you can make sense of it all in prosper202. E.g. c1=my_ad&c2=US&c3=....
2. Use network tokens if available and useful - e.g. in the ad URL have ....t202id=1234&c1=my_ad&c2=US&c3=angle&c4={{camp_ id}}&c5={{click_id}}&t202kw={{placement_id}}
3. If the network has conversion tracking then try to set this up - you will likely need to pass through {{click_id}} or equivalent in your affiliate link so that you know which id converted, and you can then send that info back to the traffic source.
4. Test your ad if possible! I.e. click on it in the traffic source interface, or copy it's ad URL and load it, make sure things load and travel as you expect.
5. Set the budget as low as possible > activate campaign > check stats to make sure things are tracking correctly.

03-01-2014 01:58 PM #22 Mr Green (Administrator)

Is that offer proven on mobile? Haven't heard of that one doing big numbers on mobile.

03-04-2014 09:56 PM #23 jaime (Member)

Need some more light on the setup process..
ON Prosper202
(step 7) I generated a link: http://mecampaigns.biz/tracking202/r...id=469&t202kw=
(step 8) Simple global tracking pixel: <img height="1" width="1" border="0" style="display: none;" src="http://mecampaigns.biz/tracking202/static/gpx.php?amount=" />
I have copied & pasted this ^^ global pixel on the Peerfly offer, as directed.
ON mmedia
1. I created the campaign
Got stuck on adding creative and URL. I'm going to use the offer's own banner, and
1. I Believe I have to paste the link I generated on prosper202(step7) on "URL destination"?
2. On mmedia, I have two options. Am I "Mobile web server to server tracking" OR "Application tracking via SDK" I believe is the first one.
3. Where do I put the tracking ID provided by mmedia?

Thanks

Here is step by step what I'm trying to do on prosper202. Help, newbie stuck..

Name:	Screenshot (6).jpg
Views:	60
Size:	15.1 KB
ID:	2029

Name:	Screenshot (7).jpg

Size:	13.9 KB
ID:	2030

Name:	Screenshot (8).jpg

ID:	2032

Name:	Screenshot (4).jpg
Views:	44
Size:	19.1 KB
ID:	2033

If this is correct,
Questions:
1. How come I don't see the recent created campaign on tracker202 dashboard?
2. Why is Peerfly telling me that the postback url is wrong?
3. I'm stuck on Millennial Media (setting up conversion tracking). Anybody know an easier way to proceed with the proper setup? I find it very technical.

03-13-2014 08:18 AM #25 zeno (Administrator)

Can you please repost those images on e.g. imgur or dropmocks? The forums attachment system shrinks them a lot.

1. The recent campaigns generally show up when you've been running traffic to them.
2/3. Need better screenshots

03-13-2014 02:18 PM #26 jaime (Member)

Here is step by step what I'm doing on prosper202:

Here ^^ I have changed the Peerfly subid to that of Prosper202

If this is correct,
Questions:
1. How come I don't see the recent created campaign on tracker202 dashboard?
2. Why is Peerfly telling me that the postback url is wrong?
3. I'm stuck on Millennial Media (setting up conversion tracking, see graph below). Anybody know an easier way to proceed with the proper setup? Otherwise, this is my new mission.

Thanks for taking a look

03-13-2014 08:03 PM #27 zeno (Administrator)

Your setup looks OK.

At Millenial's end you need to append the URID to your advert (tracking202) URL. Apparently you need to do some prior setup for this and get a goalid - https://support.mmedia.com/entries/2...p-Web-Tracking
Following that, you can append the URID to your link. For example:

Code:
http://mecampaigns.biz/tracking202/redirect/tracker.php?t202id=1234&t202kw=derp&c1=something&c2=somethingelse&c3=[:_jv_urid:]
So, the unique URID is now passed to tracking202 under the c3 value. What you then want to do is pass SUBID on to Peerfly, we will use the c3 separately, e.g.:
Code:
http://trkur.com/trk?o=1234&p=4567&s1=something&s2=[[subid]]
Note it is generally good practice to NOT pass unique click IDs as the first subid to a network, i.e. don't use s1 or subid1.

At Peerfly change your postback URL to, e.g.:
Code:
http://mecampaigns.biz/tracking202/static/gpb.php?amount=&subid=%%subid2%%
Note i don't know what placeholders Peerfly uses so replace %%subid2%% with the appropriate one!

That will get Peerfly communicating conversions to prosper. What we then want to do is get prosper to tell Millenial when a conversion has happened. Passing of the baton so to speak. We passed the URID to prosper so we need prosper to tell Millenial which URID's converted.

Millenial has a specific postback URL as listed here http://docs.millennialmedia.com/conv...obile-web.html under step 4.

Go back to Setup > traffic sources in prosper. Edit your Millenial one. Under pixel type select postback, then paste the following into the box:
Code:
GET http://cvt.mydas.mobi/handleConversion?goalid=123456&urid=[[c3]]
Note that the 'goalid' is the one that was generated early on - see the first link I posted.

I can't say I have used P202's postback 3rd-party pixel feature so I can only assume this is how it works!

@Zeno, thanks brother for your wisdom on my campaign setup process, but my newbie ass is still confused. I'm starting to get crazy, but I'll continue figuring out . Meanwhile, do you know any newbie friendly mobile traffic sources? I would love to start seeing some data, and get a feeling of progress.

03-20-2014 09:20 PM #29 zeno (Administrator)

Most mobile traffic sources are similar once you get the basics down... Many people are gravitating toward DecisiveAds as a starting point at the moment, which is good as they offer a lot of data transparency and granular targeting, and make it easy to optimise targeting/placements.

04-04-2014 03:22 PM #30 jaime (Member)

Zeno, I'm going to refer to your instruction step by step

At Millenial's end you need to append the URID to your advert (tracking202) URL. Apparently you need to do some prior setup for this and get a goalid - https://support.mmedia.com/entries/2...p-Web-Tracking
Following that, you can append the URID to your link. For example:
Code:
http://mecampaigns.biz/tracking202/r...ethingelse&c3=[:_jv_urid:]
I have copied and pasted this “&urid= [:_jv_urid:]”, to the initial link generated by prosper202. Should look something like this:??
http://mecampaigns.biz/tracking202/r...&t202kw=&urid=[:_jv_urid:]

That will get Peerfly communicating conversions to prosper. What we then want to do is get prosper to tell Millenial when a conversion has happened. Passing of the baton so to speak. We passed the URID to prosper so we need prosper to tell Millenial which URID's converted.

Millenial has a specific postback URL as listed here http://docs.millennialmedia.com/conv...obile-web.html under step 4.

Go back to Setup > traffic sources in prosper. Edit your Millenial one. Under pixel type select postback, then paste the following into the box:
Code:
I know you mean I have to paste here, but I don't know how to get this code from millenial media

repeat

I have to admit I haven't been 100% focused in IM. I will start researching, reading, testing, etc. more. I appreciate your advice guys. It's all part of the learning curve I think.
