Hey guys,
I joined STM yesterday and wanted to relaunch my affiliate career, which I left behind 3 years ago. Although I was advanced affiliate marketer that time. But when in 2010, Google banned my adwords account I just came on road and decided to look for a job. Since then i'm working for a digital agency here in Toronto, Canada.
I was going through one of Naesm's thread here http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...eakeven-to-big and really impressed with his profit numbers. So I decided to approach to community for help to get start with dating offer through facebook/PoF traffic ASAP. I read all the threads mentioned here http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...nd-Useful-Info. But still have some questions.
Following are some of my queries to the community, especially the advanced markerters like maynzie, Finch, caurmen, stackman, bbrock32, Mr Green, AdrianM, joshtodd, Daksneezian, z6marketing:
0. Is there a step by step guide available to create and launch dating campaign?
1. Which traffic source would you recommend for a newbie to start with. Facebook or PoF?
2. Do you have some kind of landing page example to show, I've never seen landing pages for dating offers. Its normally said that the conversion rates can be doubled using landing pages.
3. In one of the thread Naesm mentioned that "tracking through Prosper on a Storm VPS server. All traffic goes to a Geo IP script first to determine country that is passed to Prosper for quality control. No cloaking only DMR (double meta refresh) through Prosper otherwise the ads are usually blocked, then sent directly to the offer page."
So my questions regarding the thread are:
a) Do I need to have a VPS. I used it in the past. So not an issue. But what are the benifits of having it over the shared hosting account. Do we do something blackhat which could harm a normal shared hosting account?
b) How to use Geo IP script through tracking CPVLab or Prosper.
c) Which tracking is better CPVLab or Prosper?
d) What is DMR (double meta refresh). What are its benefits?
4. I'm member of majority of the CPA networds e.g MaxBounty, Neverblue etc... Do you have a particular offer in mind as a safe start?
5. Is PoF Spy tool enough to get pictures for the ads, or do I need to buy it somewhere, are there any other sources to get the ads.
6. How to ramp and test campaign, I mean how many campaigns do i need to run simulteanously.
7. Where to get the scripts to display city and age in the ads at PoF.
8. Best practices, not to get accounts banned on facebook and PoF.
I'm sure you guys won't get bugged with all newbie questions. Looking forward to have a great support from the community.

Thanks
dbadwal
1. Depends, POF definitely to learn the ropes of affiliate marketing including landing pages, tracking, bidding, creating ads etc its a newcombers playground! Also FB without experience you will most likely get banned and/or frustrated that your ads never get approved
2. Landers
3. a) VPS is a definite for getting into affiliate marketing, no shared hosting here!
b) Not sure on this one, ive never had to do that?
c) Prosper is free, cpvlabs cost money. I personally prefer cpvlabs because its quite cleaner and doesn't lag out too fast but its up to you they both work.
d) I'm pretty sure a DMR is how you cloak your referrals to the affiliate network/advertiser, its definitely not needed
4. Ask your affiliate manager, this is a key to success is being close with your manager to get best offers/payouts. If you clash with yours its not rude to ask for another one
5. Always best to get your own ads, try places like thechive or theberry etc
6. You're asking wayyyy to many questions, worry about this later on you have to create your first campaign first dude and learn the ropes, this is exactly what leads to failure is asking questions that will answer themselves if you get to work
7. If you want to use it in your ad just use {state:} {age:}
8. Facebook is the wild wild west you could get banned for anything, POF they will give you a warning for running the wrong offers its much more relaxed but a ban is usually finito to your POF experience
Maynzie's given you some awesome answers there!
Just one more tip - check out the New Affiliate Guide and our new Getting Started section. They're the kind of guides you're looking for and should help answer a lot of your questions.
For more POF-specific guides, there are tons of them here, many of them written by a certain crazed genius posting above me
Maynzie...That was an awesome and pretty concise answers. I really appreciate that.
Caurmen...Great resources, you mentioned. Much Appreciated....I'm going through all the resources mentioned by Maynzie and youself. Great place to learn so many new things. You guys rock.
