Facebook + CPA = SUCCESS! Watch Me Go From Zero To $100/Day...

Hey friends,

My name's Jay and I'm glad to be a member of STM. I usually find forums to be a nuisance. Too many folks talking about topics they know nothing about. I'm glad the $99/month is a "barrier to entry" for some folks (not being harsh but you need to maintain quality).

I come from an SEO background and although I did well I've come to the realization that I need to move away from SE traffic if I'm ever going to hit big numbers. I've already starting taking action with FB and CPA offers and my plan is to earn a $100/day by September. I've taken a lot of inspiration from many members on this channel but "Wannabe" has been incredible. I hope to emulate his success.

So here's what I've done so far:

1) signed up MaxBounty, MarketHealth and RevenueAds.

2) setup a few domains for testing LPs

3) created some ads on FB promoting Xbox One email submit. FB don't allow exit popups so I've been testing a plugin called "Click Jacker". This plugin helps you "jack" the authority of any site which doesn't break iFrames (similar to TrustJacker, LinkJacker etc).

My ads have been doing well. I've managed a 3% CTR with £0.03/$0.04 CPC but NO sales. This is something I need to optimize. FYI, I don't use LPs. I simply send the traffic to another page with my exit or 3 second pop up. A recent campaign I launched on FB Ads was: "10 reasons why you NEED the Xbox One". Demos - US male, 18-44 old, Interest = Xbox 360/Xbox Live/Xbox Fans/Xbox.

Things that work for me:

1) Image of a women in a car when targeting males. CTR shoots up!

2) Narrowing down the search using Google Trends.

So, going forward:

1) I need to incorporate LPs to increase sales and maximize traffic/leads

2) use the AMAZING knowledge on this forum and hit my target of $100/day in 30 days.

Thanks you guys for reading this post. I hope to learn from all of you

Regards,

Jay.

Day #1 - I'm ready to jump in!

The plan is:

1) find a dating offer with high EPC and high payout. I think I have one in my mind.

2) create a landing page using examples I have downloaded from STM.

3) concentrate on an "angle". I notice Mr Green and others stress this big time.

4) find a weird/impossible/WTF image and edit for the ad.

5) narrow down on demos, countries, ages etc.

I hope to start the get the ad started today and I can monitor and test my results.

Please follow me as I go from ZERO to HERO!

Thanks,

Jay.

Best advise I can give you is to start off with only legit ads. If you're going to follow the road of the "grey area" right from the beginning, be prepared to lose your account.

08-08-2013 12:34 PM #5 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Thanks for the heads up Scito. I want to make a TON of money but no at any cost. Everything I do (I do it for yooouuoooo) must be 100% legit. I'm a big believer in Karma and I've seen things come back to bite me in the ass.

Are mature dating ads not considered legit? I'm not using any scripts or the Click Jack plugin (see above). ALL traffic will be sent to my LP.

Jay.

If Karma is real, everyone here is doomed to a horrible death for making so many fat people believe açai works LOL

Does anyone know if I can install Prosper202 on my own server instead of using a VPS?

Day #2

Followed some absolute golden nuggets from the likes of stackman, Mr Green, wannabe etc. Here's the schedule for today:

1) finish up researching LPs with POF Spy Tool (JESUS - what a tool!) I have a breakdown of copy and images that seem to work the best.

2) start building the LPs. If anyone can give me pointers on this that would be great. I'm not a design expert but I'm willing to learn.

3) nail down the demographics. I have a list in my head which I think will work based on POF research.

4) get ready to launch my campaign!

I am nervous but I need accountability partners which is why I have created this Follow Along.

Wish me luck peeps!

Jay.

@cyberdelicstudio - you can definitely install Prosper on your own server. However, it'll need to be a dedicated server, cloud server or VPS - shared hosting will not cut it for affiliate tracking.

I've seen good results with Acai Berry (not me personally - I'm uber sexy) but I've recommended it to some friends. The problem with society today is that everyone is looking for the "magic bullet". I can continue eating McDonald's now that I'm on this Acai diet etc.

Day #3 - UPDATE

What a day! I'm on "Hulk Smash" mode - landing pages CRUSHED with the help of Unbounce and Ringpartner/Mike. This tool makes life so much easier and it also tracks conversions too!

I'm not a praying man but Superman - if you're out there please PLEASE let FB approve my landing pages. I think they're good - no massive boobs on show. Send me your positive energy STMers!

I'll be back for Monday's update - stay tuned folks.

PS - can I get some love from the big dogs AKA stackman, Mr Green, Maynies, Zeno etc.

Thanks.

Jay.

Day #4

1) launch my Dating vertical on FB - hopefully they approve my ads

I've followed best practices on this forum and funneled leads via a LP. I think that will help with approvals and the quality of leads.

I will keep you posted through the day.

Jay.

08-12-2013 03:41 PM #13 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Day #4 UPDATE

1) launched 1 campaign with 3 different ads. It took some time to get them approved but I'm starting to get impressions.

I'm looking at different angles, images to scale up this dating offer. I will be launching more ads shortly - I need to test CPC and CPM.

Jay.

08-12-2013 04:33 PM #14 caurmen (Administrator)

Excellent progress! Keep us updated.

08-13-2013 08:57 AM #15 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Day #5

1) I've launched 6 ads (3 require approval). I've tested the same LP with different headlines/ad copies/images. CTR is low but I'm increasing my target audience to > 100K. It's less than 20K at the moment.

2) LP design is pretty uniform. I looked at the best performing offers on POF (the ads with the longest days).

Let's see what happens...

Jay.

08-13-2013 10:41 AM #16 caurmen (Administrator)

One thing to watch out for - LPs don't perform the same on FB and POF. I'd definitely split-test a few styles rather than assuming the top POF LPs will work.

08-13-2013 10:45 AM #17 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Thanks Caurmen! I'll definitely try some different LPs.

Guess what! I actually made a SALE!

I'm going to leave all 6 ads running and post an update soon. So far it's still negative ROI but I'm only on Day #5

Btw - how do I post pictures without linking to a website?

Jay.

08-13-2013 02:04 PM #18 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Day #5 UPDATE

I actually made a SALE! Here's the current state of play:

1) 1 campaign with 6 ads running. All approved and running LPs.

Plan going forward is to increase CTR as it's very low at between 0.014-0.058. LP CTR is around 45% at the moment.

Jay.

08-14-2013 09:43 AM #19 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Day #6

Progress report:

1) Paused 3 ads and changed up the LP with sexier images (more skin) to improve LP CTR.

2) Changed the headline and FB image to increase CTR.

3) Targeted specific interests to increase the reach. Now targeting > 100K.

4) Create an ad targeting women. I need to source new images and create a new LP.

Jay.

08-14-2013 04:42 PM #20 caurmen (Administrator)

Posting pics - either attach them to your post (hit "Go Advanced", then go to "Manage Attachments" near the bottom of the page) or upload them to a site like http://snag.gy then link from there.

Day #7

Ok, so here's the first 5 days of FB advertising:

Name:	1.jpg
Views:	96
Size:	16.9 KB
ID:	1206

As you can see I've spent £30 and I've made 3 sales = $15.00. I'm still in negative ROI but it's only been 5 days.

I'm currently only running 2 ads (highest CTR). FYI - I'm running dating ads in Canada to 35+ males and females.

Here's the rest of the stats:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am currently bidding £0.50 on every campaign even though the CPM ranges from £0.06-£0.11.

Jay.

08-15-2013 08:55 AM #22 zeno (Administrator)

Good lord those CTRs are low. Try CPC, CPM almost always gives you much much worse CTRs (though ROI/CPC is not necessarily lower). At low CPMs as well you are likely to get horrible placements. Based on those stats, you are getting a conversion rate of 5.4%, EPC of 0.27 and your current effective CPC is ~0.55. If your CPC ads can get under 0.25 a click and perform as well on the backend you are in profit land... CPC ads tend to perform better so definitely pursue that. Additionally, CPC means $ = Data. CPM does not necessarily give you the click data you need.

Also, you paused ads, changed LP design, targeting etc. I suggest you keep the lander as is (perhaps post a screen to get suggestions) and focus on one demo/targeting combo and test ad images to see what gets a decent CTR. FB is a competitive traffic source and you need to master the art of getting clicks to get traction. If your backend offer/LP converts well it makes life easier but the ball starts rolling with the juicy ads.

08-15-2013 01:36 PM #23 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Thanks Zeno. I have PM'd you the LP I'm currently testing.

08-16-2013 09:24 AM #24 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Day #8

I'm now only running 3 campaigns:

Name:	16-08-2013 10-22-36.jpg
Views:	109
Size:	38.6 KB

CTRs are a very respectable 0.1%. I am making sales but how do I scale this up now? I am going to test another type of LP to increase LP CTR.

Current ROI is -43%

Jay.

Day #9

I'm now have 3 ads running after testing 12 male/female campaigns. ROI is still around -50% so I really need to start turning that around if I want to reach my target of £100/day by September. It's tough but I'm still here! Here's a screen shot of my progress so far:

Name:	1.jpg
Views:	91
Size:	42.0 KB
ID:	1211

My goals for today is:

1) improve LP CTRs

2) look at other countries to launch into

Watch this space!

Jay.

Day #10

OK, I've paused all the ads today as I'm losing grip on ROI. I've been given some excellent advice by the FB Mastermind group so I will test that today. The plan for today is:

1) start launching about 200 ads on Power Editor. Submit in batches of 20.

2) Sign up to SocialAdNinja.com

In total, I have spent around £100 and returned about $65. This doesn't include any residual expenditure like STM, Unbounce etc.

I still have a long way to go before I hit that £100/day target but I know I can do it!

Jay.

Day #11

I'm starting to hit my first brickwall as I'm trying to install P202 onto a Ubuntu VPS. All the campaigns are currently paused while I work this out. I've also joined SocialAdNinja to spy on my competitors. Times are frustrating but I was expecting this - you have to find a way to overcome your problems somehow.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Jay.

08-21-2013 03:10 PM #28 caurmen (Administrator)

Have replied to this in another thread - let me know if you're still having problems with getting Prosper up and running.

08-22-2013 11:38 AM #29 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Day #12

OK, so I've finally installed P202 onto my Ubuntu VM but I'm still getting this stupid error message:

Warning: date(): It is not safe to rely on the system’s timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier.
It's doing my head in but I'm not stopping here. Here's what I have done in the last day or so:

1) signed up to SAN and spied on the competition. Found some fresh images and ad copy that works.

2) uploaded about 60 ads via Power Editor.

The plan for the rest of today is to launch more ads and see how they convert.

Jay.

08-23-2013 11:01 AM #30 caurmen (Administrator)

Nice work on not getting stuck on that error message! I'd probably still be editing obscure PHP.ini variables and swearing...

Day #48

So, I re-launched some campaigns last night. As you can see the CTRs/CPCs are back down to normal (CPCs = 0.03):

But I've realised that I am changing too many variables and that is my downfall. My "mentor" slammed me hard on Skype (which is a good thing) and I realise that I'm burning my budget on wasted campaigns. I'm going launch the same ads tonight but change the network: same ad, copy, image and LP - only using a different network.

Hopefully I should see some progress and I believe I'm close now.

Jay.

11-05-2013 01:47 PM #32 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Day #49

I've been offline for a few days but I ran some ads on Saturday. I sent 400 offer clicks to network which generated 6 leads. My Ad CTR = 0.190%, CPC = 0.03 and LP CTR = 40% which tells me that it's a problem with the offer - it's just not converting. I'm using a ripped LP that I found off SAN.

I'm running the same ad campaigns tonight but I've changed the offer. Let's see how this goes.

Jay.

11-06-2013 10:33 AM #33 cyberdelicstudio (Member)

Day #50

Here's the results of last night's campaigns. I ran 2 camps/4 ads - as you can see I've paused the dupes:

I'm running demos of 3.8m and 1.6m in FR. I will continue to monitor for the rest of today.

Jay.

400 offer clicks for six leads? Unless they're paying a fortune or you're getting clicks for nothing, yeah, dump that offer like it just boiled your pet rabbit.

If three or four offers all perform badly you might just have a demographic that doesn't sign up, but testing new offers is definitely the best thing to do there.

Yeah I dumped the offer and moved onto another one - the new offer has 11% CR.

Just wondering, how're your clicks so cheap? I'm get CTRs around there but with 5x the cpc.
